“We were asked to gain the Alcumus SafeContractor accreditation in addition to our existing SMAS Worksafe accreditation, in order to work with a potential customer. Upon registering, we mentioned that we already had SMAS and were told that we could do a ‘deem-to-satisfy’ so that some of the information held by them could be used in the Alcumus application. We thought this would be perfect due to the quick turnaround we needed in order to carry out the planned work for this particular customer. To ensure this was the case, we also selected the Premier Plan and submitted our applications the day after registration. Unfortunately, despite discounting our plan due to our SMAS accreditation, it seems that the information from the SMAS submission was not transferred over to Alcumus and so we felt that we were doubling up on a lot of the evidence provided to this similar accreditation, under the umbrella of the SSIP organisation. We are not sure if this was an error at our end or Alcumus’ but wonder if the ‘deem-to-satisfy’ mentioned above, could be made clearer/quicker upon registration (from registration to accreditation it took 9 working days instead of the advertised 3 days for the Premier Membership) to speed up the process. Overall we are glad to have achieved the accreditation and the team who made contact with us were pleasant and helpful in their communications.”

Having reviewed your account, I can see that the categories used for your CHAS accreditation did not match the ones selected for SafeContractor, as such we are then unable to follow the deem to satisfy route. This should have been made clear to you at the time, so many apologies if this was not the case. I will be sure to pass this back to our Audit Mangers. I am pleased to hear that the team were pleasant and helpful throughout the process however. “Good product but a bit disjointed at times. We submitted documents that were in date when submitted but due to delays by SafeContractor during the assessment process, they became out of date and had to be resubmitted. Also documents where uploaded onto the portal but not seen by the assessor but overall the process works.”

“All Good, the only issue recently raised, is that the time allocated to complete the yearly audit and the processing time taken, passes the certification date and we get inundated by clients advising us that our certification has expired.”

In terms of timescales, the questionnaire is open all year around for you to fill in and upload documents so that you can do this at your convenience. The submit button will become available 30 days prior to your current certificate's expiry to give us time to review your file before the current certificate runs out. There are also options to upgrade the package you are on which would give different options for response times and assistance.
