“It is very repetitive. Too many people get involved and they all seem to ask for the same information. Plus, this time, I was told twice - a week apart that I had been awarded the certificate. Not sure why.”

Our process goes from a pre-audit completed by our Technical Support Officers then passed to our Main Auditors who completed the full assessment, there can be cross over with this process as each team will look for different information within what you have provided. In terms of the reason that you have been told that you have been awarded the certificate twice. Looking at your account the emails could be relating to both the Health and Safety and Sustainability Certificates as you have completed both questionnaires with us this year. “This is year 7 for me as a one man labour only company, the first 4 years were the worst but once you negotiate, know the process, get the right people in house, use last year's info it isn't too painful.”

“During the review process we had some issues brought up by the auditors but on review they had either not read our information correctly or mis read information for the money and time it takes to complete the whole process i would of hoped a bit more attention to detail from safe contractor auditors. Other then this the process was quite straight forward.”

“The process of completing the Accreditation was good and also the way that I was kept informed was very efficient. I am now progressing to complete Part 2. However, having visited the online site on several occasions I don't understand why the Health and Safety section, which is shown as Part 1, is still showing only 43% completed when you have informed me it has been completed and I have a certificate to confirm that.”

The reason for this is so you are able to go into your questionnaire throughout the whole year and update your documents ready for the submission 30 days before your current accreditation date. “It would be a benefit to be able to start the renewal process earlier, by the time we have submitted the questionnaire and it has been audited the existing certificate has expired, and clients are pressing for the renewal. The scheme is is well received by all clients, the newsletters & member benefits are useful.”

“I received a reminder of renewal, uploaded the documents required and was contacted a week later requesting additional documents, which I supplied and within a week I received confirmation that I had been awarded the accreditation for another year. It was a smooth process.”

“We were asked to gain the Alcumus SafeContractor accreditation in addition to our existing SMAS Worksafe accreditation, in order to work with a potential customer. Upon registering, we mentioned that we already had SMAS and were told that we could do a ‘deem-to-satisfy’ so that some of the information held by them could be used in the Alcumus application. We thought this would be perfect due to the quick turnaround we needed in order to carry out the planned work for this particular customer. To ensure this was the case, we also selected the Premier Plan and submitted our applications the day after registration. Unfortunately, despite discounting our plan due to our SMAS accreditation, it seems that the information from the SMAS submission was not transferred over to Alcumus and so we felt that we were doubling up on a lot of the evidence provided to this similar accreditation, under the umbrella of the SSIP organisation. We are not sure if this was an error at our end or Alcumus’ but wonder if the ‘deem-to-satisfy’ mentioned above, could be made clearer/quicker upon registration (from registration to accreditation it took 9 working days instead of the advertised 3 days for the Premier Membership) to speed up the process. Overall we are glad to have achieved the accreditation and the team who made contact with us were pleasant and helpful in their communications.”

Having reviewed your account, I can see that the categories used for your CHAS accreditation did not match the ones selected for SafeContractor, as such we are then unable to follow the deem to satisfy route. This should have been made clear to you at the time, so many apologies if this was not the case. I will be sure to pass this back to our Audit Mangers. I am pleased to hear that the team were pleasant and helpful throughout the process however.
