“I have worked for a number of large companies and working for a small company where the purse strings are tighter and there are less personel it is more difficult to meet the requirements for Safe Contractor accreditation.”

“Been a member now for over 10 years so know the renewal process pretty well. All went ok thisa year although the promised / paid for 3 day audit was not honoured (apparently due to a shortage of avaliable auditors). No refund for this failure was forthcoming.”

“It's quite time consuming to be honest, but then I suppose it should be, after all it's not worth having if it's easy. I'm disappointed not to have received an up to date logo for our website, nor one for Sustainability Accrediation Silver Award, as that would be good to put on our company paperwork and website, but I understand that it's going to be a necessary part of the SafeContractor accreditation in future so no additional logo is deemed to be required but I still think it's a missed opportunity for positive marketing.”

“The assessment side of things was made very easy with direct communication with the assessor which reduced the to-ing and fro-ing and a successful submission made. Delays with invoicing and slight delay in receving the certificates has prevented the 5-stars.”

“Very slow to get accreditation after submitting the questionnaire, i.e. we get the new cert after expiry of the old one and when customers ask us for the new cert for their files we have to tell them that we are waiting on it, which is not very professional”

“Safe contractor have improved their auditing system over the years however their "One size fits all" approach means they often ask questions not valid to certain companies. They gave added notes to their system to try to improve this, but it would appear that these notes are often not read so we have to explain our situation each time. Once we explain it the auditor usually says they can see we have explained that the year before and they have a note on the system. I have had to repeat this exercise every year for the last three years, which is a very frustrating waste of everyone's time.”

“The process is easy to navigate and all staff that answer the phone are polite and helpful. The only frustrating part is although all requested documentation was sumitted within 24hrs of request, the auditing process took so long that our accreditation lapsed. This then caused us issues as we use SafeContractor as deem to satisfy for other accreditations and this caused them to be delayed and lapse as well”
