“The accreditation process with SafeContractor was very easy. I paid for the enhanced service, which was worth every penny. My account manager was Sian and she gave me a list of everything I needed, which made me life so much easier. As long as you have an IMS, and you keep it updated, there will be no ear when coming to complete your Accreditaion or the renewal. I used to do our Accreditation through another SiPP registered company and it was the most stressful time of the year. It almost felt like they didn't want us to achieve accreditation. Go with SafeContractor, you won't regret it.”

“The auditors at Safecontractor are always very helpful and supportive, they are the best part of the service. The system itself and the portal are not always fully user friendly but overall it provides the accreditation service we need and it’s respected by the trade.”

“Service overall was ok, if the verification process takes 4 weeks to complete, i think it would be advisable to release the questionnaire 8 weeks before accreditation expires instead of 4 weeks. On release of questionnaire, I think it would be helpful to highlight any changes in the accreditation criteria.”

“Not a smooth process this year, we uploaded our documents on 3rd Jan paid for basic service so should be checked within 20 days was due to expire on 31st Jan. ours was not checked until 1st Feb 1 day after our accreditation had expired. I had chased on 3 occasions during the 10 day run up to the expiry date told each time it was all in hand and everything was ok, clearly it was not.”

Our standard audit time taken from all required documents being submitted is 20 working days for a technical officer to review your h&s assessment. Our team endeavour to assess all questionnaires as quickly as possible and to provide as much assistance as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused by your accreditation expiring on this occasion - to avoid this, we have the option for you to include an express audit as part of your plan, if you need to ensure your audit is completed sooner than the standard 20 working day timeframe.

“I think that once certain H&S procedures have been shown to be in place we shouldn't have to demonstrate the procedure every year. Especially if the people answering the questionnaire and submitting the info each year are the same. I think a statement that the same procedures are being followed should be sufficient. There should be a separate accreditation for Designers - i.e SafeDesigner. The Safecontractor title causes confusion and reduces the benefit of membership for other disciplines.”

As part of awarding our UK-leading accreditation annually, our team of expert auditors need to ensure that all contractors have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation. This means that your documents must be re-submitted for appraisal as part of your review each year. Your accreditation certificate should clearly list the work activities you have been approved for, but please don’t hesitate to contact our team for clarification if there is ever any confusion with this with yourself or clients and our team will be happy to confirm.

Our SSIP accreditation package includes PAS91 topics, however we have a variety of plans available to suit your need for support throughout the audit process, and price point. Please discuss with the team at your membership renewal if you would like to review your service level to save costs.

“I submitted my renewal questionnaire and documents on 29 December 2020. Our accreditation expired on 25 Jan 2021. When I hadn't heard anything from SafeContractor I contacted them on 25th Jan and was told that no one had looked at our case yet, but an auditor would deal with our accreditation in the next couple of days. This then did go smoothly and we received our new certificate on 27th Jan 2021. It seems as though SafeContractor is hoping that we will upgrade and pay more for Fast-track service, and yet you had sat on our documents and done nothing for four weeks. I submit our renewal documents on time each year. I think that Safecontractor could be more efficient and review our documentation before the certificate expires. COVID is no excuse, as I had exactly the same experience last year. Thank you to Huw Williams-Beynon who was efficient and helpful on the phone.”
