“It's always very stressful and difficult due to your own work commitments. Linda Graham your Tech lady was very helpful.. Our main contractor needs this and it's part of their procurement, but apart from that we don't benefit from it.”

“I have been with SafeContractor for 7 years now but unfortunately cost has gone up year on year and length time to audit has gone up. Other accrediting bodies over 10 days and less as standard, SafeContractor is 20 days as standard and they went over 20 days in my recent audit.”

Thank you for your review, and for being a member for the last 7 years! Please be advised that our standard audit time taken from all required documents being submitted is 20 working days for a technical officer to review your h&s assessment. I can see that following your initial submission our Technical Support Team required additional info to be submitted, and once this was received your accreditation was awarded 4 days later. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience that this delay may have caused. To ensure this does not happen again, we recommend making a note of all documents submitted this more and updating these throughout the year via our online portal, ready for when the questionnaire can be submitted, with all required documents, 30 days before expiry.

“I found obtaining the re-accreditation smooth and much easier this year. The guidance from the team at SC was clear and greatly assisted me in providing the required info and documentation. The two SC team members that I dealt with were excellent in guiding me through the process in order to renew our accreditation.”

“It is a real headache to get accredited first time around especially if you are a small business. They are very helpful, but it really is a massive amount of paperwork to do initially. Once you have your accreditation it is a little easier each subsequent year and they have improved the auditing system portal somewhat in the last couple of years.”

“Requirements change from year to year depending on which auditor is assigned to you. Documents which were perfectly acceptable last year, suddenly not this year. Have a Risk Assessment for use of ladders which we don't use very often, but keep up to date with the training etc just in case we are required to, but because I didn't have an actual "on-site" RA showing the use of them, the 'auditor' wanted to take if off our accreditation !! Had to send him a generic one showing we have a RA if needed, he didn't even ask to see our training certificates to show we are up to date with the training, surely that would have been more use - I wonder what qualifications the 'Auditors' actually have ?!”

As part of awarding our UK-leading accreditation annually, our team of expert auditors need to ensure that all contractors have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation. This must meet certain criteria to be accepted for audit processes. Our Audit Team Leader has reviewed your file, and has confirmed that on this occasion, the risk assessment provided showed the use of ladders as a work activity, and that more safe working procedures outside of a risk assessment were needed to satisfy the audit for this specific work activity. Your audit requested these in order to be able to accredit you for this work activity, and had already reviewed training records submitted which were sufficient. If at any point you have any queries about the submission requirements then please do contact our team of auditors directly and they will be more than happy to assist you.
