“We initially joined SafeContractor some 6-7 years ago as a requirement to our continued facilities support to one of our main customers who themselves were a member of SafeContractor. We soon recognised the merits to becoming a member as we could demonstrate this to promote our commitment to being H&S aware and showing this to our customer base. SafeContractor accreditation and the services they provide have shown and prove to be a valued part of our business being recognised by our established customer base and by promoting to new customers ahead. Our standard audit time taken from all documents being submitted is 4 weeks for an auditor to complete your h&s assessment. Our team endeavour to assess all questionnaires as quickly as possible and to provide as much assistance as possible. However if you would like to upgrade your package to have an express audit included or to include assistance from our team of expert IOSH and NEBOSH qualified auditors then this option is available to you also. To make the process faster next year, we recommend updating your documents throughout the year via our online portal, ready for when the questionnaire can be submitted 30 days before expiry. “Every year SafeContractor ask the same questions - fair enough as they need to understand whether my business has changed or not Every year I reply to those questions with essentially the same answers as the previous year, amended in accordance with the comments or questions raised by the (nameless) auditor EVERY YEAR THEY FAIL MY ACCREDITATION EITHER REQUESTING FURTHER CLARIFICATION ON SOMETHING OR HAVING FAILED TO READ THE ANSWER TO A QUESTION ANNUAL FRUSTRATIONS CAUSED BY THIS ARE BEYOND A JOKE”

As part of awarding our UK-leading accreditation annually, our team of expert auditors need to ensure that all contractors have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation. Our audit team try to ensure that they make any outstanding documentations very clear, however if at any point you have any queries about how these requirements apply to your business then please do not hesitate to contact your auditor directly, who will be happy to support you.

“I paid the extra £80 for the additional support which I thought a bit much considering the accreditation is already expensive. , however lee Stevenson who helped me was amazing , he is a credit to your organisation and I would like him to get some recognition for his work . I got accredited in 1 day from start to finish . Thanks lee . William Tinlin”

“Long process. Documents that were asked were not appropriate to our company. No assistance. The questionnaire website has never worked for us - many attempts to access but then told email documents and answers. The whole experience is frustrating.”

If you have any issues with understanding how documents apply to your business or needing to make changes to what you submit based on your unique business, then please don't hesitate to get in touch with our team directly. We will ensure that the website issues you've mentioned are passed on to our technology team to investigate, but once again please do not hesitate to contact your auditor for assistance who will happily find a way to help you submit the documents to gain your accreditation.

“the most annoying this is that you pay the renewal weeks / months in advance and then when you can submit the application you have to wait the full 20 days ( without parting with yet more money ) for it to be audited, it allows very little time to do this before the certificate expires. mine was audited on exactly the 20th working day. it would assist greatly if you opened the audit when you paid the renewal giving plenty of time. it appears to be an additional money maker by charging extra for a fast track service when this could easily be avoided.”

Your payment renewal date does not necessarily align with your accreditation date as your accreditation renewal may change each year depending on how quickly your business completes the audit. Please be advised that our standard audit time taken from all documents being submitted it 4 weeks for an auditor to complete your h&s assessment. “the time from submission to approval i far too long - CHAS are much much quicker and in future will go with them and SafeContractor through deem to satisfy”
