“We as a business are very good at planning works and have noticed every year that when are accreditation is due there is always a rush to get things sorted in one month. Our accreditation expires on the busiest time of year, that coupled with staff on holiday and more recently Covid we would welcome more time or to develop our submission and feel that this is a working and continual document. Please note that our portal is accessible 365 days a year, so to make the process faster next year, we recommend updating your documents throughout the year. You are then able to submit this when the questionnaire can be submitted 30 days before expiry. “Very helpful from start to finish of the process. We selected the fast track audit and everything was done within a couple of weeks. Thanks to Megan (Auditor ) for her help and advice much appreciated . Very happy and will continue to use Safe Contractor in the future .”

“We have been accredited by SafeContractor for a number of years and have had good assistance and advice in completing the questionnaires. We have also found the guidance notes and other support of great assistance - particularly over recent months with the Coronavirus issues. We have been required by one major client to be accredited by another well known body and in contrast we have found their process difficult and frustrating. The only benefit to this client requirement is that it has made us appreciate the SafecContractor service more.”

“You advise companies that the accreditation is due for renewal exactly 20 days before the expiry date. When we complete the questionnaire, you say that the application will be dealt with within 20 days. Within 20 days means that it could be any day from day one to day 20, but as you want to sell the fast track, you actually audit the questionnaire on the 20th day as it has been with us. Not very satisfied with the communication of your audit timing. Also, the website is not very user-friendly and we are not able to see when we submit our accreditation questionnaire, so we can't really see the progress of the auditing process. The website doesn't work on Chrome, which is the most common web browser nowadays.”

Thank you for your review, and congratulations on your SafeContractor accreditation. We send out reminders for your accreditation expiry at 60 and 30 days prior to expiry date, please keep an eye on your inbox to ensure you receive these. Our standard audit time taken from all documents being submitted is 4 weeks for an auditor to complete your h&s assessment. To make the process faster next year, we recommend updating your documents throughout the year via our online portal, ready for when the questionnaire can be submitted 30 days before expiry. “My third year with Safe Contractors. This year’s application went very smoothly. I had a telephone call from a helpful member of staff presubmission and before assessment. Very pleased with the help and understanding of the staff. I would recommend this company.”

“A good user-friendly portal. Would benefit from ability to free type in certain sections, especially when auditor has left comments - not able to respond”

“Online portal doesn't work. Continually rejects password at login and have to reset (I use a password manager - I'm not forgetting my password). Can't view of load up documents. SafeContractor says it's not their problem and won't sort it out. Accreditation process takes no account of the small size of our company and misapplies H&S requirements. Not flexible in respect of work type, has to fit their rigid definitions, rather than fit to you.”

As part of awarding our UK-leading accreditation annually, our team of expert auditors need to ensure that all contractors have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation. Our audit team try to ensure that they make any outstanding documentations very clear, however if at any point you have any queries about how these requirements apply to your business then please do not hesitate to contact your auditor directly, who will be happy to support you. Your login username is your membership number (available on your accreditation certificate). You can reset your password using the password reset link.

“Getting Safe Contractor status is not a walk in the park, it is not an easy accreditation to qualify for which gives it its intrinsic and earned value. The people at Safe Contractor / Alcumus have assisted throughout the process and have been most helpful in what have been for all testing conditions of working remotely from home during the Covid 19 restrictions. They have coached and guided when ask and have never been difficult to approach or discuss key items with.”

“Very interesting. I would like to suggest that S/C should issue bulletins for changes to regulations by email to members. We are expected to have a H&S advisor, which we do, and the only unsolicited advice we received was to change the date on our Cont Phase Plan from 2010 to 2015”
