The process to accreditation was very smooth and with both the support and help of both the technical support officer and the auditor as well I felt that they valued all the effort that I put in and steered me and my company quickly to the correct level of detail and information required to reach the standard. Very impressed.

Thank you for your review, and congratulations on your SafeContractor accreditation. Please be advised that our standard audit time taken from all documents being submitted is 4 weeks for an auditor to complete your h&s assessment. To make the process faster next year, we recommend updating your documents throughout the year via our online portal, ready for when the questionnaire can be submitted 30 days before expiry. Thank you for being understanding of any delays caused due to the pandemic and we apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused you. The recent pandemic and restrictions caused by this did slow the eccreditation but was successful in the end

Although I received emails to advise me to prepare for my upcoming accreditation I did not receive an email advising me when the window to submit was open. I submitted my application on 7th July and understood the accreditation could take 4 weeks to review. I chased up to check on progress 2 days before expiry to be told it would be looked at on the last day within the 4 week window. When it was eventually reviewed I received some queries which I responded to, the case was then reviewed by another auditor who raised further questions causing further delays. I understand that you have to set Service Level Agreements but do not expect my application to have to wait until the final day of the 4 week window to be reviewed purely because I did not pay for a speedier service. I also understand that different auditors have different views but it seems unfair to keep raising questions following an initial audit, all questions should have been raised on the initial review. Finally and to cap it all I had to chase to get my certificate uploaded to the portal as no-one could see it following approval. It wouldn't be so bad it this didn't happen every year - not impressed.

As part of awarding our UK-leading accreditation annually, our team of expert auditors need to ensure that all contractors have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation. This may sometimes involve further documentation being required or auditor queries to ensure compliance. Please be advised that our standard audit time taken from all documents being submitted is 4 weeks for an auditor to complete your h&s assessment. Our team endeavour to assess all questionnaires as quickly as possible and to provide as much assistance as possible. However, if you would like to upgrade your package to have an express audit included or to include assistance from our team of expert IOSH and NEBOSH qualified auditors then this option is available to you also. Its wrong information OJ Health and Safety only introduced your company I made the payment directly to your company not to OJ Health and Safety.

Thank you for your feedback. I have investigated this with our audit and membership team leaders. Your accreditation application was sent to us by a third party, OJ Health & Safety Solutions Ltd. As your payment was made directly to them, we are unable to deviate from the membership package stipulated or to adjust the payment on your behalf. We have sent your details into them and recommend picking this up with your contact directly. Please accept our sincere apologies for any confusion caused by this. Please also be advised that you can gain a full SafeContractor accreditation to FastTrack to other SSIP schemes with up to a 77% discount. Jex have been working with Safe Contractor for many years without any difficulties therefore you would expect this year to be no different apart from the problems running the business around the recent pandemic. Not so, one particular area of the Jex business is our capability to design and create bespoke equipment to meet client requirements, this I thought was clearly demonstrated by submitting working drawings, showing how we built safety into the finished items. Qualifications were also uploaded to demonstrate the competence of the people working in that section, these were not accepted by the auditor, simply ignored with a persistent demand for evidence of CPD and NVQs. We have only 2 designers full time, who between them, have 60 years’ experience and more, none of which seemed to count for very much in the eyes of the auditor. Jex have for many years worked very closely with client requirements, demonstrated by continuing work at the highest standards, mostly with the same clients year in year out. Once again this did not satisfy the auditors insistence on the requirement for NVQs and CPD. Sadly, in order to move on and complete our accreditation I had no alternative but to remove the designer section form our audit. Jex continue to design equipment to a very high standard, hopefully not having it on our certificate shall not cause too many problems following discussions with our major clients as to reason why.
