Overall experience was good. The only slight issue I have had is the delay in the accreditation team coming back to you after they have requested further information/evidence on various questions. Once this information was provided we had no response and had to chase for an update.

It was incredibly difficult to navigate and the information requested was above and beyond our usual annual submission. Providing financial information was unnecessary and achieved nothing to the process and asking for references was largely irrelevant as the provision of the submission should have been enough. There were IT issues that meant we had to submit the information twice, creating a lot of unnecessary work. The entire process was lengthy and it is felt that we gain little benefit from accreditation and will seriously look at other avenues next year.

I feel the renewal process is far too overcomplicated. I understand to achieve the initial accreditation a considerable amount of documentation and evidence is required, however, the renewal process needs to be streamlined. Having recently gone through the process, I found myself having to submit documentation already submitted initially, for example, procedures, policies, training certificates, the focus should only be any changes and updated information that has an expiry date, for instance, an insurance certificate, QHSE Policy etc. All the accreditations we hold, such as our ISO certificates, FPAL, Achilles, ISN, F4N to name but a few all accept documentation already submitted and focus on compliance and improvements. I was contacted by a pre-auditor to provide a whole library of evidence, most of which was submitted the previous year. A few emails later, as I suspect the individual did not fully understand the evidence submitted, I was then contacted by the auditor. Again further evidence was requested, some of which had already been submitted to the pre-auditor. In short, the Safecontractor renewal process is far too over-complicated and in essence, is nothing short of applying for accreditation from scratch.

Dreadful customer service, they make you feel like a leper if you try to stay on the basic package. They left us on stop for nearly a week costing us valuable business even though we supplied all the information nearly a month before our certificate ran out. You can only upload the information less than a month before the certificate is due even though we completed our information months before. They need to drastically change their customer services and understand the pressures Contractors are under. Also even though they can't seem to service Contractors accounts they can constantly send emails asking for payments that aren't due for over 5 months!!!!

Previously, you could submit the renewal questionnaire 30 days before your expiry date. Very frustrating that portal to renew is only opened only 4 weeks prior to expiry - when the renewal docs are not audited for several weeks. However, when the auditor finally reviewed our documentation she was very very helpful :). She was excellent- professional and friendly.

We have been a member of safe contractor for many years. During accreditations we have received fantastic support and kept updated with changes that come into force throughout the year. I personally recommend safe contractor to associated businesses. Our clientele have piece of mind that we provide services to a high standard with the accreditation.

expensive, hassle unless you have a certified trade, not very understanding, dosen't generate us any more work, customers still need copies of all documents as unable to access them through safecontractor

Information recently uploaded is now being requested again, as though our company is large enugh for someone to be doing this full time. No explanation provided as to why this information has been "removed" and is now needing to be uploaded again following our accreditation.

I have been a member for 15 years and this is the worst experience of the accreditation process ever. The portal was an absolute nightmare with the ability to edit/upload impossible for days / weeks on end . The whole process took weeks to complete which is expensive at my hourly rate. I would also suggest that you expand categories to include an OTHER - my works are specialist & for the 1st time was repeatedly asked for CDM information which does not apply to our company. Categories are inflexible - little wonder I have never had a referral as result of membership. Eventually I was asked to submit documents to a Technical Support Officer for them to upload which was unsatisfactory and delayed the process as not all uploaded. Even complaining did not seem to be effective and my request for a discount as compensation was roundly rejected. I seriously questioned whether the accreditation was worthwhile as the process was more indicative of a company in free fall. Chas is definitely a better customer experience . I would suggest that you spend less on marketing and divert funds to your core business Health & Safety Accreditation.

Progressing our renewal with you via one member of staff and reducing outstanding actions to 2 I recall. Then a Safecontractor colleague took over our application and increased the number of outstanding tasks to 6. This set me back and added a significant delay to complete the tasks. I explained my concerns regarding this matter, but felt such concerns weren’t appreciated.
