“We now appear to be getting a lot of nit picking questions from auditors who do not appear to understand the construction industry. For example if you are carrying a comprehensive refurbishment contract it is difficult to submit a step by step Method statement.”

“I struggled a little this year - mainly due to working from home! A couple of specifications appear to have changed within the accreditation application which I somehow wasn't aware of. However I had a long conversation with Robin yesterday and my final point resolved and we now have accreditation, thank you Robin for your help.”

“Although the process was relatively straight forward and documents easy to upload into the portal, we felt the more information we gave to Safe Contractor, the more information they required to ascertain and prove our procedures and skilled tradesmen which was difficult at times due to live databases and felt the cost of this did not outweigh the value of costs we carried out on behalf of our Clients.”

“The questionnaire seemed to take an interminable time to be audited. It was submitted on the first available date and the audit commenced one week [7 days] before the certificates expiry. But, once the process started it didn't take too long to complete. One aspect that frankly annoyed me was that things like our H&S Policy, the content of which has never previously never been questioned, was found deficient in several areas. These were all covered by subordinate policies or procedures, so are covered within the management system.”

“Good service and generally happy except for long wait from submission to review/accreditation. I feel being asked to pay to speed this up is unfair when I have already paid for membership.”

Regarding the option to upgrade to another package the cost of this is a reflection of the extra support received which in turn will speed up certain parts of the process. “Do not agree with raising renewal invoice 8 weeks early and then applying pressure via numerous emails to pay early”

This was post feedback from contractors on needing enough time to process the questionnaire ready for renewal. “The website portal and the Technical Adviser have been very informative and helpful. Good instructions on loading our company details and documents onto the portal for assessment. I liked the idea of a pre-approval check by the Technical Adviser before the actual audit.”

“Started out poorly as there seemed to be to my way of thinking, a lack of understanding that we are a two person company and some of things you requested seemed to be well over the top of what was required, however once we had a discussion the assessor Keith was really helpful and the whole process then went forward with no further issues.”

“It's always very stressful and difficult due to your own work commitments. Linda Graham your Tech lady was very helpful.. Our main contractor needs this and it's part of their procurement, but apart from that we don't benefit from it.”
