I ordered four pairs of sticks. A week goes by and nothing, I emailed - no reply. Then, 11 days after my initial order, I got a call saying one pair were out of stock. They refunded me for the out of stock sticks, fair enough, and despatched the others...11 days after my initial order. I try to support independent retail, but I won't be supporting this independent retailer again.

I've had no issues in the past with Rattle & Drum but on this occasion they did not let me know both the items (cables) I purchased were out of stock. They took about 19 days to arrive and to be honest I've got things from China quicker. I don't think they should be selling items that are out of stock or at least let their customers know which they didn't.

Unfortunately having to give a low review as had to wait over a month for an order despite not necessarily being there fault, but the team were very nice to deal with and talk to and order was well package when it finally arrived

The item that I bought (J.N Guitars Cask Series Cigar Box Acoustic Guitar) was disappointing—poor design, poor build quality and over priced. And I would say that Rattle & Drum does not seem to be set up for ecommerce. My item took over three weeks to arrive and communication was poor. If you're thinking of buying online from these guys my advice would to approach with caution. Cheers.

Very disappointed with this order. I ordered a Genera HD Dry snare head (2 ply) but a 1 ply Genera was supplied. As I was in a hurry to fit the head, unfortunately I did not notice the mistake until afterwards.

I purchased the item on the understanding it would be picked and sent, almost one week later and one day before I went on Holliday I received an email telling me it had been posted the next day I left for my Holliday, did it arrive, I don’t know !

I'm so sorry this item didn't arrive on time before you left for holiday. We do sell quite a few accessory items that are sourced from supplier warehouses, this item did have a 14 working day lead time on it at the time of order. We did fulfil the order well within this time but will always accept that, while we do try and make the delivery time very clear, it can be missed. Kind regards. R&D

Issues with the supplier and the DPD delivery service meant that I received my item 3 weeks after offering it.

Many thanks for your review. we always look in to any negative feedback to see if we can improve our service. As in the previous comments, Our only current issue is with the reliability of stock coming from the EU, one order may take 5 days the next 3 weeks! In this case we stipulated a lead time of 14 days for delivery which is normally more than adequate. Unfortunately the shipment took over 2 weeks to get through customs. Sadly there is now way to predict or track these delays and hopefully with time the situation will improve, the 14 days we quoted for this supplier is our best guess at an average. If we put 30 days no one would buy the items and most of them would arrive within 7 days, all we can do is keep a close watch and apologise to people such as yourselves when it doesn't work out.

I still haven't received my product and DPD are now holding my item after failing to deliver on two separate dates.

Ordered on Monday, didn't dispatch until Thursday, arrived on Saturday. If I'd known I'd be waiting that long, I'd have paid more to buy from somewhere else.

I paid for next day delivery and it took 3 days with DPD. I could have had it Parcelforce 24 by Midday the following day. I emailed them but don't believe I have had a reply.

The transaction was the one thing they were good at, I ordered some drum sticks that sadly broke after one use of them! I know it’s an awkward situation because they are meant to be hit, but with my playing ability the same sticks always last at least 2 weeks minimum (around 20 hours) before breaking. I tried to contact them and received no reply, that’s the main reason I would review this badly as the communication wasn’t there. Thanks anyway!

I found the online information very frustrating advertised as free delivery but was not made clear it was over £50 Price of the goods I ordered changed to a cheaper price hours after I ordered it. Refund offered but not given. A bad first time experience with rattle and drum.

Item I ordered didn't match the photo, appeared to be old and tatty, and didn't even work. It's not that difficult to check items work before sending them out. During the return process I kept being asked for info that the seller clearly already had access to ("what was the item number?", "what's the Royal Mail tracking number?"). Very annoying; why should I be the one having to find the info? Staff should be capable of looking up item numbers etc themselves

Hi, Clearly sending out items that seem used unless clearly sold as used is unacceptable. It's not something we make a habit of as can be seen from the majority of our reviews, I'd like to think that, as you've contacted us, we resolved the issue but as you have left your review anonymously I can't check. In terms of being asked questions regarding your order in terms of tracking details, we did have an issue when swapping to a new system whereby the details were not being retained. Thankfully this has now been resolved.

Always check the price on the website prior to making purchases. They have tried over charging me numerous times when going in to buy string for my bass. I when I caught them out on this scam, I received free attitude with my purchase. Secondly, when I have asked to pick up and play an instrument, I was abruptly asked if I was going to purchase the instrument - of which I honestly answered, I don’t know, because I haven’t played it - Please bare in mind this was a mid level £400ish Ibanez, not some £2000 American made, custom shop boutique Fender - The salesman responded by telling me no, because if I play it and don’t buy it, the instrument is no longer ‘brand new’ I found this absolutely ridiculous and wouldn’t of even considered the bass brand new myself as it had been hanging on a wall in the shop, and god knows for how long if they don’t even let their customers pick up and play them!!! Would you walk into a car dealer and buy a car without test driving it? I know this store has gone bump at least once In the past and if my experience means anything, it is clear to see why. I only buy from here if I have absolutely no other choice.

Hi Sam I'm really sorry to hear you are so unhappy with your experience with us. With regards to your issues - 1. Our policy is to price things the same in store as we sell them online, the only time where that wouldn't be the case is if there is a genuine error on our system. If you could please let us know what strings they were I can double check the price is now correct. We would always charge the lower price if an issue like this was identified to us, it seems a bit harsh to suggest we are running an elaborate scam. 2. We absolutely encourage people to try instruments before they consider a purchase, it is the only way to be sure you are getting the right one for you. However, we also have to try to make sure someone is genuinely interested as we have to care for the instruments for their ultimate owners. It is a really tricky balance to strike and it sounds like we got it wrong in this instance so we are very sorry about that. 3. While the building we are in has housed numerous music shops over the years please be assured that Rattle & Drum has never "gone bump", in fact we are celebrating 20 years in business next year. We are an independent Derby based shop so we really care about this kind of stuff, our reputation is critical to us so if you'd like to pop in any time for a chat with one of the owners you'd be welcome any time and we can address your issues in person.
