“Ordered all the glass and metalwork for a balcony balustrade — really pleased with the whole experience. Nick was brilliant throughout, helpful and knowledgeable when I had questions during the ordering process. Delivery was quick and everything arrived well packaged. The quality of both the glass and the metalwork is excellent — looks clean, modern and exactly what I wanted. Will definitely use again for future projects and would happily recommend to anyone looking to do something similar”

“We bought our frameless glass channel through Origin, there were no problems with that purchase. All was well. Then we bought our glass through them, and it was at this point that it all went wrong. I placed the order to deliberately coincide with my holiday. I’m a teacher and my holidays aren’t movable, we have elderly family nearby, but no one strong enough to assist with delivery (something Origin were insistent we had on site for the delivery). Though no fault of Origin, the third party glass manufacturer had a technical issue with their manufacturing process and despite two promised delivery dates, failed to fulfill the order. The end of my summer holiday arrived, we still had no glass for our balcony, so I was referred to a manager: enter Nick Watson, the managing director. My predicament was unique, it was September, my next holiday was October but we’d already booked to be away, therefore the next time I’d be available to receive a delivery would be Christmas. Nick Watson point blank refused to lift a finger to help, instead offering me three options: 1) get the glass (all 300kg of it) delivered to a different address and move it all myself at my own risk to my home address. I couldn’t do that. 2) ask a neighbour to be there for delivery. Also not possible given that both my neighbours are female and the youngest one is 76 years old. 3) ask a family member to be there for delivery. Also not possible given that all our family members strong enough to lift the glass (each pane was 50kg) work full time and live over an hour away. You’ll notice that each of the solutions Nick Watson proposed involved me and my family bending over backwards to solve the problem, and Origin architectural doing nothing. I pointed this out to Nick (who by the way had also decided to keep our money) and he refused to talk to me about it. In fact he wouldn’t even let me speak, choosing instead to interrupt me and tell me I was wasting my time. There was no ‘I will make some calls and get this sorted out for you’ there was no effort. All there was was a smug, rude little man on the end of a phone who knew he had hold of our money and could delay delivery for as long as he wanted. For nearly two months he kept our money, made no phone calls to us to try to resolve the problem. In the end I gave up trying to speak to Nick Watson and went straight to the third party manufacturer who were amazing. They went out of their way to ensure that the delivery happened at a time convenient to us, with a driver who could do the unloading. My 70 year old father in law was present at the delivery, and had to do no heavy lifting. I’ve left that glass company a glowing review as they were willing to actually make effort to help, instead of sneering down the phone at us, which is the strategy of choice for Nick Watson at Origin. What makes it worse, is that Nick easily could have called the manufacturer like I did, and got the same outcome. But no, lifting a finger for him was absolutely out of the question. Leah, Robyn and crew at Origin were knowledgeable and easy to deal with. If you manage to make an order with them then I’ve no doubt all will be well. If something goes wrong though, and you have to deal with Mr Watson, you should expect to deal with a rude, incompetently lazy individual, incapable of taking responsibility for anything, uncooperative, with a vocabulary that doesn’t include the word ‘sorry’. I remember when Nick Watson told me that refusing to do anything to help us was his ‘business position’. Well this is my ‘personal position’ and this review is more than deserved.”

“We bought a glass balustrade to go around the decking walkway which is part of our new extension. Jon, who project managed everything for us, recommended Origin Architectural as he had used them before and had a good experience. He initially liaised with Nick at Origin, and I subsequently liaised with Nick as well. He was extremely helpful and approachable, and his communication was great with regards to sending a quote, sorting out and confirming the order, and confirming all the delivery details. Their price was competitive compared to other companies. We are extremely pleased with the finished product and would happily recommend Origin Architectural.”

“What a great company. The price was very competitive; delivery was on-time; The company was easily accessible on the telephone for advice and support, and extremely helpful when I constructed my glass balustrade. I had a few items over from the installation and Origin Architectural valued them when they were returned and credited me with an agreed refund. Overall, a Great Company to do business with.”

“We ordered our tinted balustrade system from Origin after trying a number of companies. Origin were super helpful all the way, with us and liaising with roofing company. We liaised with Leah mostly and she was fantastic, great customer care, could not have asked for better. The other staff were super helpful too in her absence. Communication was operand easy via calls and email. We had a couple of hiccups with the delivery ( some parts missing ) but this was easily and quickly rectified at no inconvenience or cost to us. I would thoroughly recommend this company. The quality of products were fantastic.”

“I browsed the internet, and made an initial enquiry by phone while my patio was being reconstructed. I was asked to submit measurements for a CAD drawing to be created. This came through by email very quickly with a costing. I was very pleasantly surprised and further guided on handrails by the really helpful Leah. Once we had the final measurements I was ready to place the order but got a follow up email from Leah offering a very welcome 5% discount. I accepted and went ahead with the order. The metalwork literally arrived the following day, and the glass came a couple of days later. Really fantastic quality, solid and sturdy. My query about stiffeners (I didn’t know what they were called) for the glass panels was answered and they were duly sent out. Every step of the way has been a pleasure, and Leah is a credit to the company. I’m very impressed and extremely happy with the finished look, and can only say it has been a truly positive experience dealing with Origin Architectural from the initial call to the last pieces received. I give them a 10/10 for quality and service. Thank you.”

“We ordered two Portia Balconies a few years ago and installation was straightforward and the company were very easy to liaise with. We recently were called back as one of the glazing panels had been damaged. The company still had our records and ordering a new pane was easy. Robyn was extremely helpful and we had taken delivery in just a few days. Again it was easy to replace in the original fixings. The service is excellent and you get great value for money. (Very reasonably priced). Many thanks to everyone at Origin we will definitely use you again.”

“Do NOT order from this company if you live somewhere that is single track. I explained several times that access was tight. They only deliver on an 18 ton vehicle. We’ve had much larger vehicles here but the driver refused to come down the lane. Consequently we had to collect panels one by one over a significant distance in the car. The driver was told to leave the on the roadside nowhere near our property. Origin were not helpful and although I requested several times to speak to a manager nobody was ever available. I eventually spoke to a manager several days later who happened to pick up the phone he was extremely unhelpful and very abrupt. Apparently this has happened to previous customers and it’s in the small print. So be aware.”

Hi Elizabeth. Thanks for the review. We are sorry that you were not happy with the service that you received. We delivered your balustrade (including bespoke glass panels) in under a week. No wagon carrying glass could access your house. We went to enormous lengths to help you with this. In the end, our driver helped to unload individual panels into a car to take the panels up your drive. We were clear about this before you placed the order. “Ordered online which was a simple process, great customer support before, during and after ordering. Everything arrived well packaged and protected. Kit included everything necessary for installation. Was missing some screw head plugs but these were sent promptly after contacting customer support. Glass balustrade looks amazing and superb quality. Pricey but worth every penny. No hesitation in recommending.”
