“Good site for finding a surveyor but hard at first glance to find a company which uses RICS surveyors, as opposed to a company which is run by someone who is certified but using surveyors who are aren't. Also, this is a good site for getting a fast quote but I would advise that you don't ask too many - they will keep coming back to you even after you have settled on one. I personally would have liked to use a more local company but the site appears to advertise companies who work in alll parts of the country.”

“A useful website, though a lot came down to how the individual surveyor company responded. I wanted a new build snagging survey and Dunford Penrose responded personally to me and provided fantastic service and great value for money.”

“Local Building Surveyors supplied quotes from five surveyors. I chose the nearest ones, Nest Surveyors of Colchester. They did a thorough job and were happy to answer any further questions that occurred to us. Very satisfied with the. service received.”

“I found this website very useful in that I was sent details of a number of surveyors immediately I typed in my information. However I was quite disconcerted to get several texts and phone calls within minutes of my enquiry being logged. I explained to each person that I needed time to decide which surveyor to instruct. Several of them were quite persistent, wanting a quick decision/offering discounts if i did so, and ultimately that put me off choosing them.”

“Two out of three more competitive than surveyors promoted by estate agent. However when contacted became 40% more expensive than immediate quotations. Still will probably be best route to reliable service provider. Caveat emptor!”

“In general I was happy enough with his report and was pleased that he called me to give a précis of it before it was published. However, one of the points I was most interested in was a suspected water leak in the loft. Unfortunately, the loft hatch was apparently stuck with paint and he did not open it. I would have thought that this should have been possible with fairly simple tools which any surveyor should carry.”
