“..A service that one needs very infrequently, so having this resource to hand made the search very simple, We have appointed one of the companies that made contact, and they were out to the property very promptly. We have had an initial consultation with the engineer on the day following the survey and are now awaiting the formal report - Very speedy and informative.”

“User friendly portal. Quick response and the survey was booked and carried out within a week or so. Only one gripe: we were promised a phone call from the survey to discuss in person the report, which was posted a day later than promised, after we had called to enquire, but the call has not materialised. The survey covered the areas we expected it to and not the ones we did not. The survey is far from comprehensive, it will be extremely difficult to challenge in case of dispute in future because of the many exception clauses contained within. However, we expected nothing more. Overall, a satisfactory, if expensive, and largely issue-free process.”

“I found the website very easy to follow, and the quotations received were workable. I have chosen one of the recommended Surveying companies and advised them to carry the survey out. Overall a good experience so far.”

“The surveyor I found based in Manea Cambs, who could act the speediest (it was an auction sale), produced an informative report speedily but failed to respond to any further queries despite inviting further questions, was impossible to get hold of either by any type of phone, and I therefore had to drop out of any pre-auction offer. Would therefore not recommend him even though his name appears on the list for another property I needed a survey for.”

“The comparison basically comes up with 2 types of surveyor. Type 1. Cheap quotes from national companies who have a list of surveyors around the country, if you buy one of these you will not know the name (or experience or proof of local knowledge or personal reviews) of the actual surveyor so you are in the hands of the company chosen. Type 2. Pay more and choose a reputable local firm with named surveyors who you can assess for suitability. There are other surveyors that the site doesn't list so this site is a good starting point but to look at other options might be a good idea too. Both of the two types yielded competitive prices, naturally Type 2 cost more than Type 1. But it is a small difference in terms of the overall costs of buying a property.”
