“IMO the appointment and communication with the surveyor was lacking. I had to chase up when my survey was going to take place. I had paid for a survey but the acknowledgement was very very slow. I initially felt that I had been rolled.”

“Useful website. I got 5 quotes, spent some time going through them and chose one. When I received the formal quote, the price increased, scope decreased and VAT was added on - in total an extra 35%. I went to my second option who had chased me 3 times for a response and told me that he had surveyors in the area next week. I agreed to go with him and then he told me he couldn’t do it after all. I then went with my third choice and have been happy with the price and engagement, just waiting for the report… Overall I just wish those that quote would take some care to quote accurately and only if they can actually do the job - they have all the information to quote accurately.”

“OK but I can't believe how much you get "pestered" by some of these companies, many of which don't seem to be local at all. I've had about 10 e-mails from one"! I am also staggered at how low some of the quoted fees are; I wanted a professional service from a LOCAL Chartered Surveyor not what sounds like a quick whizz round, it must be as the fee is only £216 NET of VAT! Perhaps you need to vet who is actually quoting on your site and who they are actually sending out to do the job.”

“I have not received the copy of the full survey report yet. The survey was carried out by GTA Chartered Surveyors & Chartered Engineers on the first week of January 2024. I did receive the promised call back from the surveyor after the survey which was helpful. My payment was delayed because their request for payment somehow ended up in my spam emails which I took sometime to realise and deal with. After paying the survey fee I expected the full report to be emiled to me right away but I am still waiting.. a long wait... £633...”

“This “search engine” for a surveyor, works very well if not too well, I got flooded with surveyors' queries, touting for business I suppose but heck it felt overwhelming to be honest, a couple of suggestions would have done it and if not a fresh search with different results would be sufficient, over all a helpful site / search engine.”

“I appreciated all the info about surveyors nearby but I wasn't expecting to be contacted by them all so quickly! I was inundated! They are probably used to contacting potential clients this was, although high failure rate for them so was it good use of their time. But was certainly OTT for me to deal with!”

“Quotes look like they have been generated by scripts. Too many random quotes from the same companies. When I agreed for the work to be done, firm came back and said did not have the staff to do valuations.”

“If your looking for a professional service you would expect people would respond in a professional manner. Only 2 bothered to email using the correct name. Obviously they didn't get a chance of my business.”

“It was helpful in quickly finding a list of local surveyors and their quotes for the work. However, within seconds of downloading the list, I was inundated with emails, texts and phone calls from most of the companies on the list - at a time when it was not convenient. I'm happy to receive email quotes but some of the companies send several emails as well as texts and calls and it was too much of a hard sell. That experience could potentially put me off using the service again.”

“Got 5 replies back, which was good. A range of prices which were all cheaper than I'd been quoted locally. However, when I opted for one of them, I got a whole load of delays which resulted in them eventually saying they couldn't do it and refunding my money. So that was about a month wasted. I then picked another one, where the service wasn't great tbh. They promised the report on a specific day but I had to call them 2 days later to ask where it was before they sent it. So not a huge success really.”

“Most of the surveyors I contacted couldn’t even be bothered to reply to my enquiry. Of the couple who did only one was helpful despite being unable to provide the service I was after me. Quite frankly I feel I wasted my time trying to communicate with these people.”

“Using the website and getting the search results was fine and easy to do. Unfortunately, this resulted in many phone calls and repeated emails from the various companies which I found quite annoying and inconvenient. I would have preferred to contact them myself as many were not even local to me.”

“OK, except I greatly resented being bombarded with emails I didnt ask for. I thought filling in my details would merely bring up local recommended surveyors and not then be conveyed to them, which led to them competing for my business. Disappointing.”

“Not yet ready to instruct. But please tell me who the surveyor would be. We have asked the vendors to get rid of the spray foam insulation in the roof void first and will then expect the surveyor to approve so that the property is mortgageable. Thanks.”
