“Hi there - the products are reliable and the delivery was timely. I was surprised this time that the ends of the moulding were sticking out of the package (with just bubble wrap). Only minimal damage though, to be fair.”

“I only have one major moan about Lion is the dreadful packaging you use to despatch moulding. It has always fallen to pieces by the time it’s arrived. I also hate the bubble wrap. It is so bad for the environment and we all need to be doing our bit. Lion is not. May I suggest you look at Nielsen Bainbridge. Their packaging is the best. Simons is similar to yours but way more effective in holding together but NO bubble wrap. Please please find a better way”

Hi, thank for your message. We regularly review the types and methods of packaging we use as it would obviously be preferable not to use bubble wrap. We've done tests with different types of bubble, no bubble, different types of cardboard etc. What we're using at the moment overall stands up best to the treatment the parcels get from the carriers. While there are unfortunate exceptions, the rate of damage we get is proportionately low, and we have to set the use of bubble wrap against the waste and extra journeys entailed when we replace damaged goods. We're doing everything we can to reduce plastic waste internally and all film plastics are collected separately for recycling, as are timber, food, paper, single use plastic and metal waste. We've moved away from drinks machines that used plastic sachets of tea / coffee and plastic pots of milk and now use teabags, milk in glass bottles etc. We've held FSC chain of custody certification since 2007 and try to ensure as many of our mouldings as possible are made on FSC timber. So - not perfect and definitely more to be done, but I hope you can see we do share your concerns. Best regards, Nicola Best regards, Nicola

“I would have given 5 stars but couldn’t due to the lack of confirmation of dispatch from Lion and any delivery info. The vast majority of companies now use couriers that can give you a reasonable idea of when you can expect a delivery with tracking included.”

Hi - This is a fair point, we've actually been having some problems sending out tracking emails since we installed an IT upgrade. Emails are going out now, but in a slightly basic form, should all be back to normal in a couple of weeks. Best regards, Nicola

“Very friendly company with a super helpful sales team. If there is a problem with a damaged moulding, it is very quickly dealt with. However, more recently, it seems to have become more aimed at the larger framer with a minimum of 10 sheets of mountboard required for delivery and only next day deliveries. Prices are pretty competitive.”

“Items arrived quickly and safely and so far appear to work well. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is that the last metre of lime wood has a dark streak all along it. Which is fine as it’s a natural product but really annoying as I was under the impression from the photos and text on the website that all the wood would be pale. I can’t use that last bit now unless I paint over it which is not the plan as I just wanted to use Danish Oil. Feel I’ve wasted my money.”

“Great items, good prices, well packed. I ordered mounting board, a cutting mat and a mat cutter. Would have preferred to receive the cutting mat packed flat with the mounting board, not rolled tight and bundled in with the mat cutter. It’s taken me ages to straighten it!”

Hiya, thank you for your review. Can I ask which image are you referring to as in the catalogue and online I cannot see screws in the image? We make the following reference regarding screws for this item: Takes No.6 gauge / 3.5mm diameter screws. Hope that helps. Best regards, LION

“Excellent quality and speedy, efficient service. My only niggle is the minimum order requirement, being a very small business – I do understand, but were it not for this I'm sure I would order more regularly and point more customers in the direction of Lion mouldings.”

We only ask that you order 10 sheets or more of items such as mountboards/backing boards/styrene which can be mixed in with anything we sell with the LMMD icon. “Extrusion was delivered quickly and was good quality, however, I didn't expect, need or want a second large parcel containing two massive glossy printed catalogues. What a total waste of energy, paper, printing, money and shipping. I'm not a picture framer, I bought one piece of extrusion for a small job in my home. Please save the planet next time and don't send me anything other than what I've ordered.”

“First time order. Logan studio jointer and chop frame supplied. All arrived well packaged and successfully managed to frame my painting. Very happy with my diy framing after often being disappointed with framing services I've paid for locally. Delivery was a little late but perhaps due to bank holiday and current covid problems.”

“Staff always really helpful. Wide range of framing supplies, very competitively priced. Fast overnight deliveries. My only slight criticism would be that sometimes the mouldings are damaged, perhaps due to lack of quality control? But having said that, staff are happy to replace it if you send photos to show the damage. I think Lion is a very friendly company and I find Tony and Tracey particularly helpful.”

“Great service , everything in stock - would like the option for a cheaper postage service as next day delivery not always necessary and postage is expensive if you only want a few bits. Also the option to pay with PayPal would be beneficial.”

“There is nothing wrong with the product at all However! For a small packet of clips I end up paying a small fortune to receive two very heavy sales brochures which I didn’t ask for, don’t want and have thrown away. This is irresponsible and silly selling. The Goods are overpriced because the buyer is subsidising this crazy marketing and selling exercise. The clips are good, I shall look elsewhere for them next time.”
