“I love the herb fed chicken, it always arrives on time in great packaging which keeps it fresh. This time, in addition, I purchased the new sausages. The label told me to place straight in the freezer, however they weren’t frozen and I did not know whether they had defrosted in transit so placed them in the fridge. They were delicious so on the whole a good experience”

“Delicious chicken. A bit disappointed that, despite adding a note as discussed via email with you, the free sausage offer was not included in the package. (I had the 10% welcome offer and it wouldn’t allow me to tick the box for the sausages - your email asked me to add a note which I did) Order #46640”

“The delivery is poor. He just left the boxes outside my house without noticing us. The boxes left outside for more than 2 hours before we discovered the discovery. One of the chickens was full of blood water in the bag. The rest were okay.”

“The chicken was lovely as usual , however , there were a lot more smaller chicken breasts than usual . Not a problem with the weight as that was all correct but I do prefer the larger ones.”

“Excellent quality chicken. Very good customer service . I found the postage costs to be a bit hefty for a smaller order , but I guess that’s unavoidable .”

We completely understand your thoughts on the postage cost for smaller orders, so just to give a little background, we use specialist insulated packaging that is guaranteed to keep the chicken chilled for up to 48 hours from dispatch. All parcels are sent with our courier partner DPD and packed with ice packs to ensure everything arrives in perfect condition. We do offer free delivery on orders over £75, all of our chickens are caught and butchered fresh each week, then vacuum-packed, which also makes them ideal for freezing on arrival. We really appreciate your understanding and your support of our small business.

“Great delivery. Well packaged but I'd prefer it if no polystyrene was used. I have ordered fresh meat from other sources which used biodegradable packaging. It could be composted or used as bird nesting material. The chicken we have tried so far has been really nice and tasty and I would definitely order from you again.”

“Turkey was good overall, although it had lots of pin feathers left on the breast which were unsightly. The giblets were terribly mean in quantity (just half a very thin gizzard and a tiny little heart) and must have come from a really small bird. Your bird was very expensive compared to other quality producers - I was surprised to see a much larger, plump-looking, free range, herb fed "special breed" one in Waitrose a few days before Christmas for £75 (not reduced). It looked very nice. However, your turkey was succulent and tasty, and the delivery was trouble-free and punctual, so well done on that.”

“Usually really pleased with herb fed boned and rolled turkey but slightly disappointed this time with the amount of leg meat. We hardly noticed the dark meat but will be ordering again next year!”

“Was a whopping great rooster..over 10lb. Cooked at lower temperature for 4 hours and rested for 30 mins. Beautiul flavour and meaty texture. Beats a turkey anyday.”

“The turkey was very good and I made a reasonable attempt at cooking it. The only thing that stopped me from giving a 5 star review, was the plucking. A little more care is needed. But care equates to time and time is money.”

“The rooster was a good choice. Plenty of meat which was full of flavour. I would have given it 5 stars but for the neck still being attached. It took a while to remove it before the stuffing could be put into the the neck cavity. I'm not sure if this is standard practice or an oversight due to the Christmas rush. Very good to eat though.”

“Bit of delay with delivery. Rescheduled to next day so parcel was soggy but packs just frozen. Problems probably due to carriers employing seasonal workers so I will be mindful of when I order fresh produce on line in future. Just had time to put everything in freezer before I was due to go out. Produce itself looks good.”

“Having bought the Chicken breast in the past several times and was impressed with the size, I found my order this time to be quite disappointing. Although the quality and taste is still outstanding, the sizes are now rather small and thin whereas before each chicken breast was large and thick. This was one of the reasons I decided to purchase from HFC as the supermarket products were not as good but now I feel I can get as hood free range from Supermarkets.”

Dear Lorraine, We are delighted you love our chicken but sorry you have been disappointed with the last order. Our birds can be quite large and hence you have had large birds and cuts before. Sadly the weather and factors often beyond our control can affect their growth and perhaps it was a smaller batch of chickens on your last order. They should have met the minimum weight stated on the website, we are just sorry its wasn't as large as normal. thank you for your support. Emma

“Excellent product always well packaged. We really love your chicken. My very elderly father really enjoys the chicken legs . The only disappointment is that the frozen diced chicken comes in 1 kl bags and the turkey legs come in pack of two frozen together. I would be quite happy to buy these items in these quantities if they were packaged differently ie the legs separately and the chicken in 500g bags.”
