“Not all that impressed, there was a lot of blood when I first looked at the bird which really put me off . Also not sure what the extension from the bird was from would not order again as it put me off from eating it. Tried to keep it. Hidden from my diners as it was not very attractive wished I had just got a normal bird .”

“I ordered a boned and rolled whole turkey and to be honest I was disappointed because it was a bit dry. I cooked it in accordance with the instructions using a meat thermometer and left it to rest for over 30 mins. Otherwise everything else I was hoping for was good, easy to carve and no carcass taking up fridge space.”

“I have only tested the 2.5kg chicken and it was disappointing. The breast meat was tough. I’ve had a 2.25kg chicken from Ocado recently which was excellent, albeit cooked differently. The latest was fast roast in oven and Ocado was bbq rotisserie.”

“5 stars for the chicken, truly the best I have cooked with and eaten in ages. 0 starts for the shocking packaging in polystyrene which could not be recycled or reused and took up half our wheelie bin. Delivery by regular DPD. I have emailed to provide feedback and await a reply.”

Good morning, I sent you an email reply earlier on in the week With regards to packaging this is something we are working hard to change. We are currently trialling various types of packaging, priority is keeping the chicken cold during transit. This can be a challenge during the summer months. “Good quality chicken however won’t be ordering the Marinated chicken again - these are really poor/ don’t taste of anything.”

“Its very good produce - he meat really is very different to supermarket stuff. Value for money wise It is on the expensive side. With good produce comes expense - but this is really another level. I'd buy more if it wasn't quite so expensive. Maybe cold do with a loyalty scheme or some way of buying more or regularly meaning its not so expensive.”

“It was moist and tender but disappointed in the flavour. It tasted the same as a supermarket chicken i'm afraid to say.”

“Collection and packaging was first class. We purchased a crown for the first time,I was surprised about the amount of water that came out of the bird following cooking and at rest.This made the meat a little too moist for Xmas dinner but the flavours did improve over the following days”

“It was very tasty but no leg meat in the middle as described. So wouldn't buy again. Also turkey arrived with no instructions or giblets as promised. After phoning to complain the giblets were sent out immediately.”

“Disappointed. The meat was quite chewy and fairly tasteless. The turkey had been cooked for even less than the recommended timing instructions as the the inserted thermometer showed it was cooked to the correct temperature. So we imagined it would be more juicy as with previous turkeys purchased.”

“I was impressed with the website, communication and welfare of the birds. However, I was less impressed with the flavour, especially, the smaller size of breast and it was rather dry- possibly due to overcooking, although it's never been a problem before. I won't trouble you again.”

“Rooster was very tasty and arrived well packed. Only gave three stars as left a bit of a bad taste due to the “4-5kg” Rooster being 4.05kg - would have been well under 4kg without the giblets!”

Hi Mr Willis, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you received a bird at the lower end of the weight bracket. We do our best to achieve minimum weights stated and also give as much extra as we can when bird weights allow but sadly weren't able to on this occasion. “I appreciated that you kept me informed after I made the order and the bird arrived promptly, it was the size stipulated and it was kept cold. It was a nice tasting bird when cooked. However, the bird was badly plucked which spoilt it for me, it took a considerable time to pluck it and I didn’t get them all out, so none of the skin was eaten, which is usually a favourite part in our family! If it was just a few I wouldn’t have mentioned it but it was definitely the worst plucked bird I’ve ever had. I’m sorry because I would really have liked to have written an excellent review!review.”

Dear Laura, We are sorry to read that you were disappointed with the preparation of your rooster and thank you for your feedback. As you may have read, our Roosters are game hung and dry plucked by hand and hence some quills may have been missed and they will appear different to other quality birds you may have seen in the supermarket. We are very pleased it arrived in good time and tasted wonderful however and do appreciate your feedback.

“Although the bird was most delicious it only weighed in at 3.2 kilos and we paid for 4 kilos. Needless to say there wasn’t much left after feeding a six person family.”

“I’ve only had a couple of meals so far from my delivery. I’m not convinced yet by the flavour - I was expecting something quite different from my usual free range supermarket chicken. Apart from the flavour of the chicken, I was pretty appalled at the packaging. So much plastic and polystyrene. I’ve had other chilled meat deliveries that have been much more sensitively (and still effectively) packaged.”

“Inconsistent. The quality of herb fed chicken is wonderful however, at times you do not always get what you pay for. Previously in one of my orders I received items that were passed the expiration date or expiring on the delivery date. In my recent order, I ordered 5 medium birds (2kg /4.4lbs) and 1 large bird (2.5kg /5.5lbs). Instead of a large bird I received a small bird (1.8kg /4lbs ) See photo attached. I expect to receive the same level of care taken when packaging a delivery for Fortnum & Maison. However with regards to the quality of the birds 100% delicious.”
