“Good service. My order arrived on time. Disappointing that my turkey joint was right at the minimum of the advertised weight range, I had hoped for somewhere in the middle. The range was 3-3.5kg. I got exactly 3kg. 250g more would have made a huge difference..1-2 more portions in a meal with a variety of dishes.”

“The three flat iron chickens were very good, however the chicken wings were disappointing-I ordered 2 packs of mids and pot of 40 pieces only 7 were drumettes, the rest were all small flats.”

“its good quality food - but it is very expensive. The packaging and delivery are good - although getting rid of the packaging can be a pain due to the polystyrene used - i guess thats to keep it cold...”

Thanks for the review! Yes indeed, our packaging is designed to keep our products chilled for up to 48 hours to ensure once delivered it is as fresh as possible.

“The chicken is lovely, and pleased that it no longer comes with a polystyrene tray. Would be great if you could use a more environmentally friendly insulator for the packing box, eg woolcool insulation.”

Thanks very much for this positive review! With regards to packaging this is something we are working hard to change. We are currently trialling various types of packaging, priority is keeping the chicken cold during transit. This can be a challenge during the summer months. All the best from the Herb Fed Team

“I am happy with my first purchase of chicken. It was beautifully packaged and presented. I froze most immediately but used my new oven’s rotisserie for the first time for one of the chickens. It turned out very well and tasted nice. I think I need to season it better next time.”

“Your stuffed chicken cushions delicious and perfect for four. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is your cooking instructions of 40 mins at 170 would have left middle raw. Fortunately I am experienced cook.”

“Chicken was very good, unfortunately packaging contained polystyrene - most other companies are using recyclable/compostable packaging now. Makes me reconsider whether I would order from here again.”

Hi Ben, thank you for taking the time to post a review. The packaging is something that we are working hard to find a replacement for. At the moment we are working with several companies to trail alternatives that will keep our chicken at the correct temperate whilst in transit, (summer time can be a challenge). “Lovely Turkey,great taste ,quality meat .Very professional and well organised business .Collected in person .Arrived in a box suitable for placing in the fridge, included fresh herbs and handy information card .I would suggest the information card be placed outside of the box rather than next to the actual bird although it was possible to wipe it clean .Pricey .”

“Delicious - the turkey crown was lovely, comes with recipe card and fresh herbs, don't recall last year it having part of the legs on it but it was easy to cook with instructions if needed in the box”

“The Turkey crown was moist & tender. However, I did think it lacked flavour. It was easy to carve & went along way. The packaging was good recyclable & well presented. I would purchase again. I would like to try a chicken.”

“Rooster was delivered to us exactly as anticipated and packaging was excellent (and easy to dispose of). The bird was cooked as suggested by Herb Fed. The advised cooking time produced meat which was tender and juicy. The meat seemed a little coarse in texture and did not have a distinctive flavor but was enjoyed by all. Now enjoying it as a curry!”

“I purchased a turkey roll of breast and brown meat, which cost over £56. It cooked beautifully and was tasty and moist. However, for the price there wasn't as much meat as I'd hoped for in the 1.6kg. There was a lot of skin and gristle meaning we probably got around 1kg of usable meat. So a little disappointed in the turkey roll. However, I often buy the Herb Fed chickens and have had a whole turkey in previous years and would give these 5 stars as they are lovely.”

“Most flavoursome, moist turkey I have ever cooked. Giblets produced richest, darkest gravy. Animal welfare and good husbandry top my list of essentials and Herb Fed’s website convinced me to purchase - I will continue to do so. Extremely useful cooking guide, recipes, hints and tips. Superbly packaged and delivered with courtesy and on time. Slightly disappointed that the herbs included were from Morocco, not the local family farm.”
