“Herb Fed Chickens are an excellent product. Their chicken is flavoursome and the different cuts offered are excellent. I would give them five stars but the delivery packaging is very poor with large amounts of non recyclable materials.”

“Chickens were lovely ,a bit disappointed with giblets I make gravy from them but I love to eat the gizzard and it was distinctly lacking in the pack. Nevertheless lovely gravy made, thank you”

“Excellent flavour and texture. Wonderful products but slightly disappointed that so much skin is removed from the neck end of the rooster, and also round the legs, making stuffing the bird slightly difficult. Otherwise, perfect!”

“We had an excellent turkey for Christmas. As usual service and communications with herb Farm were very good. However the reason I cannot give a 5 star rating is because the bird still had a lot of quill/feather roots sticking out of its sides and legs. It took my wife and I about two hours on Christmas Eve using pliers and forceps to try and remove them. If I’d have noticed when I picked it up I wouldn’t have accepted it. It tasted good none the less - just a bit annoying at the time.”

“Very impressive packing and a comprehensive package with recipes and herbs extra. My only comment is that the cooking times were a little light as I expected and we had to put the turkey back in for an extra 30 minutes but it worked out fine. Thanks!”

“Good service. My order arrived on time. Disappointing that my turkey joint was right at the minimum of the advertised weight range, I had hoped for somewhere in the middle. The range was 3-3.5kg. I got exactly 3kg. 250g more would have made a huge difference..1-2 more portions in a meal with a variety of dishes.”

“The three flat iron chickens were very good, however the chicken wings were disappointing-I ordered 2 packs of mids and pot of 40 pieces only 7 were drumettes, the rest were all small flats.”

“its good quality food - but it is very expensive. The packaging and delivery are good - although getting rid of the packaging can be a pain due to the polystyrene used - i guess thats to keep it cold...”

Thanks for the review! Yes indeed, our packaging is designed to keep our products chilled for up to 48 hours to ensure once delivered it is as fresh as possible.

“The chicken is lovely, and pleased that it no longer comes with a polystyrene tray. Would be great if you could use a more environmentally friendly insulator for the packing box, eg woolcool insulation.”

Thanks very much for this positive review! With regards to packaging this is something we are working hard to change. We are currently trialling various types of packaging, priority is keeping the chicken cold during transit. This can be a challenge during the summer months. All the best from the Herb Fed Team

“I am happy with my first purchase of chicken. It was beautifully packaged and presented. I froze most immediately but used my new oven’s rotisserie for the first time for one of the chickens. It turned out very well and tasted nice. I think I need to season it better next time.”

“Your stuffed chicken cushions delicious and perfect for four. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is your cooking instructions of 40 mins at 170 would have left middle raw. Fortunately I am experienced cook.”

“Chicken was very good, unfortunately packaging contained polystyrene - most other companies are using recyclable/compostable packaging now. Makes me reconsider whether I would order from here again.”

Hi Ben, thank you for taking the time to post a review. The packaging is something that we are working hard to find a replacement for. At the moment we are working with several companies to trail alternatives that will keep our chicken at the correct temperate whilst in transit, (summer time can be a challenge). I am sure you will understand this has to be reliable all year round. Yours sincerely Herb Fed

“Lovely Turkey,great taste ,quality meat .Very professional and well organised business .Collected in person .Arrived in a box suitable for placing in the fridge, included fresh herbs and handy information card .I would suggest the information card be placed outside of the box rather than next to the actual bird although it was possible to wipe it clean .Pricey .”
