“When the blanks arrived they were both warped very badly, very poor quailty.”

“Everything is as described. But delivery from an online order is ridiculously long. Most items I have bought for my en-suite upgrade have been delivered in a couple of days at most. As opposed to weeks. This is a poor reflection on your business. The website states - Most UK deliveries are shipped within 1 working day providing the order is placed before 2pm but can take up to 4 working days to be delivered. My order took 18 days to be delivered.”

Good afternoon, Thank you for your review. We make it clear on the product page the lead time for our machined products which is listed as 10-14 working days from order (image attached), the delivery information you have provided above isn't mentioned on the page you purchased from. Looking at the tracking information your order was delivered on the 11th working day from order. We have this lead time so each piece can be machined to ensure the quality is high rather each product being sat on a shelf with chances of getting damaged over time. “Unfortunately not great this time. I ordered Ash dowels, however, Oak dowels were delivered. I now have to wait in to have the Oak dowels collected today and then again tomorrow to have the Ash dowels delivered, so caused alot of inconvenience and loss of time. I've made lots of orders in the past from G&S and always been happy with service and quality of product so hopefully this is a one-off”

Good morning, Thank you for your review. once again we are sorry that the wrong species of dowels were sent for you. Upon receiving your email on Saturday we arranged the collection and re-delivery for you right away. in doing this the collection was arranged for today and even though we shipped the replacements on Saturday they didn't leave our local depot in time to also be delivered today. Good morning, Thank you for your review, The dowels do taper by about 0.5mm on each end around 5-8mm in, this is due to the sanding process after machining the dowels, we are currently sourcing new machines to get around this. We did reply to your email offering a full refund but received no response. Kind regards G&S

“Last 3 deliveries of wood have been warped. It was obvious to me before it was unpacked it was warped. Your team must have noticed this, if not questions need to be asked. I did not want to send this review, but you kept asking me for my opinion”

“I ordered some ash PAR for a new project. When it arrived, the majority of the wood was dark coloured heartwood with lots of shakes. It was totally unsuitable for my project so I contacted G &S Timber, who told me that that was how the timber had arrived, in other words, tough luck! I complained and was finally told to return the timber for a refund - no free shipping like the last time I had a problem. Not very impressed.”

“we ordered 2 shelves of ash and 2 of oak. Unfortunately the oaks were not matched and it was hard to see whether one of them was the ash or the oak. We asked about a replacement and were rebuffed with the comment that these were 'natural products and there is always some variation.' Not very helpful and frankly disappointing lack of customer care in picking out the product to be sent in the first place, and then in the response.”

Good afternoon, Thank you for your review, We received the images of the timber you had received and both pieces were European Oak as ordered. All of our planed all round is machined to order and the workshop staff select the boards so they are free of knots and defects which the timber you have received is. Unfortunately the timber wasn't ordered to be a perfect match cross the boards you had ordered. We are sorry we couldn't be more of a help on this occasion. Kind regards G&S

Good afternoon Thank you for your review, I have checked your order and can see delivery was attempted on Thursday, however there wasn’t anyone at the address and Dx won’t leave parcels without signatures, so delivery will be attempted on the next working day which will be Tuesday. “Initial conversation with Matt confrontational when I was trying to establish that the wrong size dowels had been sent. It transpires that an error has occurred in your warehouse/ distribution dept. who selected a smaller diameter dowel than that ordered. I had previously been told that there was an out of stock delay but the incorrect dowels turned up by the next day or so.”

Good morning, Thank you for your review, Upon receiving your phone call we were informed by yourself the dowels were the incorrect diameter, we asked for the dimensions of the dowels but these weren't available as they could only be measured with a ruler. Matt explained about the tolerance of 0.4mm on the dowels but the actual diameter couldn't be confirmed. We offered a return on the dowels but this wasn't acceptable, we received an image from yourself the following day of the dowels that seemed to show the incorrect diameter, at that point we offered to send replacements but haven't received a response. Please let us know if you would like this sent. Kind regards G&S

“Tools did not arrive on day On enquiring about delivery was told would look into it Phoned again 3 days later was told it will take another 5to 7 days for courier to look into it to see if you’re claim goes through I was left not knowing if or when I will get my order”

“There was some slight damage to two of the skirting boards when the order arrived. Rather than go through the hassle of trying to return the two damaged pieces and get replacements I will have to try and discard the damaged parts from each and hope that I still have enough for the job. As nice as the wood is, it could have been packaged a bit better to prevent this sort of thing happening. Overall I can only rate you as 4 out of 10 for this.”

Thank you for your review,. We are sorry the skirting board arrived damaged with yourself. Unfortunately with shipping items via courier this can happen. If items arrive damaged and we are notified we would issue a replacement for the damaged item right away and arrange to have the damaged pieces collected. Good morning, Thank you for your review. We are glad the parcel arrived for you. Im sorry there was no reply to your email however I have checked our email database and we didn’t receive the email. DPD will send text updates however looking at the order the mobile number provided only has 9 digits. We have checked the delivery details on the couriers website and they do match what was given on the order.

“Sorry for the delay in responding, but have just opened my recent order which arrived promptly. To my dismay on checking my order I found 8 Sycamore bowl blanks 53mm x 100mm , 1 Sycamore bowl blank 100 mm x 202mm (this part of the order is correct) . I had ordered 8 Tulip bowl blanks 53 mm x 102 mm, I found that I recieved 5 blanks, also enclosed is an unnamed blank 128 mm x 50mm! Perhaps a note of explication would have been appropriate or indeed an email explaining for the discrepancy. Disappointingly I recieved neither!”

“We ordered 6 x 27mm beech bowl blanks. These were to help level commercial exercise equipment which is housed in a Georgian building that has a sloping floor. They arrived promptly and were well packed and of good quality. 4 of the blanks were 25mm thick, one was 30mm and one was 32mm. We accept the company description regarding width variations but would have thought that with such a small order our 6 blanks could have all been of a similar width. Would have been a 5 star review apart from that.”

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to receive a negative review from yourselves. The timber blanks we supply are cut from sawn planks of kiln dried timber and there will always be a variance of around 3mm either way in thickness. These items are normally bought for turning into plates or other items and are turned on a lathe until around 22mm thick.
