“Im still waiting to receive two receipts from november last year. Its a total piss take. I know you're busy guys, but that's not my Concern. And I need those receipts to do my taxes. Ivee asked for them in about 6 separate occasions. Its annoying because other than that I think you give a great service.”

Hello Joshua firstly, there is no need to swear. We appreciate your frustration but we can find no email from your company requesting a receipt. Your orders were placed over the phone and all such orders have a till receipt put in with the order at the time of packing. If you could email us requesting the receipts we will gladly scan some duplicates for you and email them to you. Kind regards G&S

“I ordered a specific piece of 3/8" Dowel--it was packed , 40com length, weighed 60gm. The cost was £0.54 incl VAT. However G&S used a courier who listed the minimum weight as 2kgm and it cost in the end £6.49 and 4 days, as courier had delays. With a little initiative, it could have been posted for one or two pounds, and received in less time. so product was good, but process costs could be improved to impress customer.”

Hello Donald thank you for taking the time to review us. We feel the negative comments are unfair: You ordered at 21.10 on the 2nd of September (Friday) and the parcel was dispatched on Monday 5th of September. It was delivered and signed for on Tuesday 6th September at 11.06am It states on website that most items are shipped within 1 working day and delivered next day. We don't feel could have got this parcel to you any quicker. The cost of delivery is clearly stated on the website in several places, not least on the checkout when you are deciding whether or not to make the purchase. The cost reflects the speed of delivery and that it is done via a reputable courier ie. UPS. Sorry you feel you had a poor experience but we feel that we have done everything that we said we would do and that our delivery costs are transparent. Kind regards G&S

“Ordered some oak dowels on 29th June. It is now 5th July and still not received them, emailed G&S but have not had a reply as yet. Very disappointed.”

Hello Richard These dowels were dispatched from us on the 30th July (the day after you ordered). Unfortunately we weren’t notified by the courier company that the parcel had been delayed. After we received your email later on last night we have chased the parcel for you and it is on the vehicle to be delivered today. We are sorry that you haven’t received a reply from us as yet we only received this information a short while ago. Kind regards G&S

“Promised delivery made by email was not achieved and only after I made a follow up phone call was the errant delivery completed. Order to delivery was 11 calendar days/8 working days.”

On very rare occasions order-related paperwork can go astray in the workshop and this was unfortunately one of those instances. “Ordered 5 x 6mm Ash dowels which I had intended to use in a guitar repair. None of the dowels were 6mm? Four were between 5.7 & 5.81mm? & the other is 5.88mm with a 'flat side' that s 5.42mm? (ie. Oval) --- Not good!!!!”

Hi Gerard, we at toolsandtimber.co.uk are really disappointed by your negative review. Firstly all dowels and indeed timber products have a machine tolerance (this tolerance is clearly listed on our website plus or minus 0.4 mm ) . The most disappointing part for us receiving this is you didn’t contact us before posting the review, nor did you give us the opportunity to put this right for you. Hopefully when dealing with companies in the future you will give them the opportunity to put this right. This was a human error and we do our utmost to ensure all our product are received on time and within the correct tolerances. If you want to send the dowels back we will gladly replace them for you. “I wanted a 2.4m 30mm oak dowel and asked for it be cut into two 1.2m sections. I phoned the sales office and was told to specify on the web site order. This i duly did, but the request was ignored or not seen as the whole 2.4m length came! On the positive, the quality of the product is very good.”

“I was surprised I was able to place an order for products, and pay - to then be told they weren't in stock and delivery would take up to 3 weeks. Fortunately I didn't have to pay my CC bill but again I was surprised to have been billed for the items on order, before you had them and before they were dispatched. Satisfied with products.”
