“I was very pleased with the quality of the Sapeele and the fact that it was delivered undamaged to the Highlands. Delivery speed was good and I happy with the delivery costs. Overall a very positive experience of buying wood onlline.”

“Would have been 5 stars but you were let down by your courier, FedEx. 1 The delivery was 2 hours after the end of the stated 4 hour delivery slot. I missed it by 5 minutes. 2 I received no notification, either by text or eamil, that the item had been delivered. 3 The on-line tracker said it had been delivered, but didn't say where. 4 I eventually found it in a recycling bin. This was only a small item that would in fact have fitted through the letter box. What would have happened had it been a larger more valuable purchase?”

“Quality and finish excellent. First time buyer, will be back again if needed. Just a point of note, that for people who are not businesses, the wait time to receive it was dissappointing, especially as it was from a standard product off the website and not bespoke. But as I said fortunately we could wait.”

“Ordered monday despatched Monday, it was the delivery company who let the side down by splitting the delivery - half arriving first thing tuesday with the balance on Wednesday morning. Fourtunatly the order had been mixed and the half that arrived enabled me to get on with the job.”

“I love the fact that G&S Timber provide some "out of the ordinary" items, for example Sapele Dowels, which have saved me a lot of time and trouble preparing some table leg cross-struts. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars was the lead time to getting some "produced to order" planed-all-round timber. I understand why these are not available as stock items, but I was surprised that the same lead time applied to rough-sawn, when rough-sawn is normally available same-day in other timber suppliers. If I didn't have to provide timber for such a "rush order" I am more than happy with G&S, but for that more immediate supply I will probably have to look elsewhere first.”

“G&S were okay and must have sent things off quickly - no confirmation of despatch so not sure - but FedEx delivered to incorrect street about 1/2 mile away. Wouldn't have known if recipient hadn't been kind enough to deliver to me. Hasn't happened before so not really any excuse for FedEx mistake”

“I have both been into the shop and ordered online. The staff are helpful and there is a good range of stock. With regard to mail order the goods are shipped quickly but the carrier lets them down. I couldn't find a way to tell them to leave my purchase in a safe place so ended up staying in to await delivery which then slipped back beyond the original times. Hence 4 stars rather than 5”

“Good product, delivered in a reasonable timeframe and customer service was helpful whem I had a issue to resolve. My one gripe is that the nowhere (at least that I could find) on the communication I have received does it state that the bill will appear on the credit card statement as "The Alpaca Centre Chicago" which needless to say is about as far away from a Timber company as you could imagine. As you can imagine this was quite a concern and only by the fact that I managed to match the transaction amount on the statement to one item in the many things I had purchased over that period was I able to realise that my credit card wasn't being used unlawfully”

“Very neat little length of Walnut 22mm diameter dowel for a window pole hook. Unfortunately a little bit warped/not straight - but this my only quibble, The Ash Dowel better - so I used this !”

“I've had lime blanks from G&S a couple of times and they have been good quality and deliovered quickly. The only thing that stops me ordering more fequently is that many of the sizes shown on the website are out of stock whan I look, which means I have to order thicker pieces than I actually need so end up wasting a lot of wood (and money).”
