“Wood delivery on time, but delivered to a neighbour's house rather than mine, with no note through door ar any communication. DPD's fault rather than G&S. At least my neighbour brought the parcel round for me.”

“I have recently order 10 of these for project in two separate orders . Out these three have internal splits in critical places and I have had to use them for smaller projects and will have to order some more but you have none left.I appreciate you cant see these but it's a bit anoying.”

“I have used G&S a few times now, always without any problem. This time was different: the delivery was frankly hopeless. I wish you could go back to DPD - never had any problem with them! I have a feeling the delivery may have been more than 5 days but less than 7 days, which your system below does not cater for.”

Good morning, Thank you for your review, I have looked into the delivery for you and can see the delivery was only 2 working days. The order was placed on Thursday the 1st at 20.22pm and dispatched on the Friday. As you had not requested a weekend delivery the earliest delivery date would be the Monday, when the parcel arrived at the nearest Fedex depot there is was an issue with the label which meant the parcel was delayed until the Tuesday and was delivered at lunchtime. We are sorry there was a 1 day delay with your parcel. Kind regards G&S

“Very responsive company. My orders have always turned up the next day, and they respond to emails very quickly. I had been happy with everything so far, but a recent order not being as described, and then the attitude being that i should expect that, is what has soured my opinion.”

Good afternoon, Thank you for your review, as we said via email the banksia nuts are a natural product in this case the nuts dip in diameter in the middle this is the way that nut has formed and is out of our control. Although the nut goes thin its still 280mm long so is a large nut. We asked you to return them for a full refund or replacement, but you declined. Unfortunately, your review isn’t fair we replied to you within 30 minutes and we are more than happy to replace or refund if they are returned to us. Sadly all retail shops have to have the items returned to issue replacements or refunds. Kind regards G&S

“Haven't received it yet. A van turned up at the time allocated, the driver went in the back, didn't deliver anything and drove off again Still not delivered I can't submit this without filling in other fields so will just tick poor although this has no reflection on your product, just the delivery”

“G&S staff were helpful and their despatch was quick but they were let down by the appalling "DX overnight delivery" service which took 4 days! I complained directly to DX by phone & online but there was no response or follow-up which was no surprise, considering their many 1-star reviews. I've bought from G&S twice before when they were using DPD but I wouldn't bother again if DX remains their carrier.”

Good morning, Thank you for your review. We are sorry that you have issues with the delivery from DX, Sadly after Covid DPD no longer allowed us to send liquids with them anymore, meaning we had to look at other couriers for this. We have looked at the tracking and can see that your parcel was shipped on the Thursday and delivered on the Monday, sadly DX don't class Saturdays and Sundays as standard delivery days and if you try to contact them on this days there will be no one available to look into it also. If a customer has any delivery issues we would always suggest contacting ourselves as we have a dedicated customer service team and our enquiries are prioritised. “As if today I gave still not recieved the wood, 3 failed deliveries with no updates or contact they are supposed to deliver it tomorrow 17th”

“I used to be able to order from you and have my dowels delivered to the isle of wight, but you now refuse to deliver because your delivery company wont do it, (change your delivery company) its your business not theirs. I have to get them sent to a family address then pay to have them re sent. The last order I had from you 3/8" iroko dowels were not very accurate with some dowels being very loose.”

Good morning, Thank you for your review, The dowels delivered were all American Black walnut but had some lighter grain which is part of a natural timber product, we offered to swap the dowels for you if the original dowels were returned to us. Kind regards G&S

“I've only given my review 3 stars due to not being able to order sizes of lime blanks I really need. I'm having to pay extra for larger blanks to cut down which is a total waste of money. They never seem to have 60 mm blanks in stock so I like many others may be forced to shop elsewhere even though I always use g&s”

Good morning, Thank you for your review, we purchase the Lime boards in full loads from Italy. Unfortunately we only received one pack of 60mm boards on the last load which means we need to wait until the next full load is ordered to get more. Hopefully we will have more available soon. “Quick service and as advertised. I did want a size not available and so have to laminate two pieces to reach the thickness I need. (just 10 mm bigger than your maximum) As the pieces are not completely square - which I accept is normal with wood - I now have to have them planed for glueing. The wood you have sent appears high quality. I would have liked to have the choice of other woods e.g. pear.”

Good morning, Thank you for your review, I am sorry we didn't have the timber size your required. we have checked your order and can see that rough sawn timber was purchased, with rough timber it would always be slightly out of square and would require planing up for jointing purposes. “I finally received the Architrave ordered. Communication was not customer friendly, if any, I found quit abrupt. From the going to workshop message I had to wait almost a week to be told it was a large parcel and would take 14 'working days' to receive. I needed 2x 1m strips of Oak for architrave and postage cost as much as item..I should have collected it myself as only 35 miles away. Only ordered out of desperation of product. Communication needs to be addressed... yes, I have worked in successful sales environment and communicated to my customers.”

Good morning, Thank you for your review, We have looked into your order for the architrave and can see the email correspondence also. Your order was placed on the 26th of March and was sent to the workshop on the same date, an email notifying you of this was sent. As shown on the website at the point of ordering the lead time for the skirting boards and architraves is 10-14 working days. Your order was dispatched on the 9th working day and received on site on the 10th working day. We try and keep the communication as clear as possible hence why we advertise the lead time on the product page so our customers know before adding the item to the basket. Kind regards G&S

Good morning, Thank you for your review, I am sorry you feel the order took along time for delivery, I have checked your order order and can see you placed an order for Rough sawn Oak on the 11th of March, the rough sawn oak has a lead time of 14-18 working days as stated on the page, we can see the order was dispatched on the 10th working day and received on the 11th working day. kind regards G&S

“I bought 4 1m length maple dowels and the quality is great, however 1 of the dowels was very bent - luckily I ordered an extra one anyway and only needed 3 for the job. Otherwise good service”

“Of the three pieces of timber ordered, two were slightly bowed and parts were green the other was acceptable. As I wanted them for cigar box guitar necks then they are not exactly usable.”
