I love the way Carrot reward their customers. You get lots of great goodies by driving well with them however not being able to get through to them via phone call and live chat has driven me crazy over the last few years.

You have to be the right customer for this car insurance - absolutely is not for everyone. I have cancelled my insurance because my wingman abruptly stopped working without my knowledge and fixing it was too much of a hassle considering I don't use my car very frequently. I also didn't get along very well with the telematics as I didn't like being penalised for driving longer than an hour or for 'not driving very smoothly'. Furthermore the livechat function is great for small, quick queries but for longer, slightly more complex queries, a phone line would be much better. However, I spoke to Lisa about cancelling my policy and she was incredibly helpful and sorted it for me very quickly. She is a credit to the company. For someone who wants to keep their insurance down, especially new drivers who don't mind the app and have always had telematics/black box (and hence are used to it), I can imagine the whole experience to be very positive. The weekly vouchers for amazon are also fab! I will probably not return to Carrot for my insurance needs but I encourage those who don't mind a little extra work in return for the lower prices and amazon voucher benefits to consider - just make sure you're the right kind of person for it.

The customer service is good. My miles was coming to an end and they offered me some bonus miles what’s really kind of them. The blackbox situation is really bad and poor the blackbox is inaccurate and really disappointed with how it acts and performs when I am driving and gives incorrect scores. I believe the blackbox gives incorrect scores due to the bonus system they have on their system if they didn’t have this I believe the black box would be great because it would give correct scores I feel they are scared to give good scores because you can get rewards from them.

We offer rewards based on your driving style score, the better you drive the more you can earn. If you have a negative score this can lead to cancellation however, we provide warnings prior to cancellation to give our customers the opportunity to improve their driving behaviour going forward as we appreciate our new drivers are still finding their feet. It’s frustrating that they don’t have a telephone for customers to ring, it once took me an hour and a half to get through the live chat... however, once I was through to them their customer service was really good and they were really helpful in answering all my questions.

Still needs a lot of tweaks with the software . Some issues arisen such as : weekly point button broken , weird average speed of a road that will mark you down (wants you to do 40 on a 70) , also the driving length is abit weird as I took a 15 minute break complying with their advice but the box didn’t recognise I did this so it again marked my score down. Moving onto the customer services as with most places some are useful some are useless .... at carrot I had a bad experience at the start but ever since then they have been okay !

They are very cheap and brilliant when you need to contact them. However, if i knew how serious they took their blackbox i would have gone with someone else. They give me - points because "i use my car to much in 24hrs"

The live chat is really great and very quick, I get weekly rewards for good driving which is great. However I have had issues redeeming some of these rewards. However this is being sorted.

Live chat was very helpful but the app was very frustrating. Often didn’t record journeys and took up a lot of battery life

Love the concept of an app to monitor your driving but the app itself was a little frustrating and hard to use. Overall never had to use the insurance so can’t really comment on the full experience.

They say they don’t put curfews on but instead they penalise you for driving at certain times and make it next to impossible to earn what they call Carrot points, but aside from that they’re well priced in a very expensive market of first driver insurance

The price at the time was the cheapest I could find by quite a lot. However I dont like the fact I can't speak to someone on the phone and that I can only contact them via the live chat.

Only having a live chat available for customer service is a real downfall as it’s easier over a call however the staff are very friendly and helpful when you are speaking with them on the call
