Love the weekly perks when getting into the green. Customer service standards have slipped since everything has to be done online. It is very difficult to get through and speak to someone. Used the online chat a number of time and have had a mix of experiences. My most recent experience on the online chat was very good though. The app does need updating as there is a road near my parents where the speed limit was increased from 40 to 50mph about a year ago but I get marked down for speed if I go at 50.

The better driver app isn't very accurate with time or location. Keep getting marked down for my usage and I only drive to work and home.

Carrot insurance is alright, but there's alot of room for improvement. The black box helps bring the initial price down, but I've been caught up to now buy extra miles with 2 months left on my policy. I was quoted about £50 for 150 extra miles, not too bad but still annoying. The black box also isn't very realistic- if you need to emergency brake, pull off quickly, or need to speed ever so slightly in order to overtake, you are marked down on the points system. Also if you do short journeys of about 15 mins or under, drive after 11pm or drive longer than an hour at once, you are also marked down. So the rewards scheme doesn't really reward you as much as advertised. I'm all for black box monitoring and I understand why, but when it doesn't account for real world driving it's more of a con than a pro. As for customer service, the new system does work but you still end up waiting a while for someone to speak/type to. I'd say it's slightly better than waiting on the phone, but nothing revolutionary. Overall Carrot is an average insurance group for young drivers as cost always comes first really. I'd look around first, but if you can't find a better price, then Carrot would be a fair choice.

Cheapest insurance I could find as a young driver. However, when ringing to sort out a problem could not get through for a while and then was not contacted back to see if my problem had been fixed had to ring back myself.

Overall the app reviews my driving fairly and getting instant results makes me try harder to drive well. However I haven’t received a treat for a green driving week and the button to learn more about treats on the website doesn’t work which is disappointing. Some aspects of the insurance are also quite confusing.

Carrot insurance themselves are brilliant. Always very accommodating when I’ve called them with an issue. However one improvement I can suggest is the Better Driver app. It’s very faulty. Carrot emailed me themselves and informed me they spotted an issue and they would fix it but it still isn’t working properly. Says I’ve used miles and driven when I haven’t which results in me losing miles, constantly scores me badly, and when I am driving it cuts off my journey half way through. I’ve tried emailing them about this as it’s frustrating and I don’t want to lose out on miles I haven’t even used but have got no response and no help with this.

Customer service are great but the mobile app lets the company down. It doesn’t record all journeys and then marks you down.

Service was okay when finally got through it took a while to get though and when I got through I got passed around quite a lot and nobody could seem to help me as I’ve had an accident recently however a few of the employees in the end were brilliant with helping me.

The general communication and customer service is good, I've never had a problem with getting in touch or getting info either. Prices are generally good also. Few things let it down as a company such as the technology needed to comply with my policy not being available - this is annoying but as I have said they are good at contact so I'm always informed. It's a good policy for a new driver, especially for simplicity for in future I will definitely look at cheaper companies.

First not answer emails , take a while to get through your phone calls to customer service, Secand if you have a black box and if u you get 3-4 weeks Amber they will cancellation your policy which’s not fair .

As a new driver getting insurance was easy enough with carrot insurance. Was simple, efficient and quick. There are changes which can be made digital. Example would be the better driver app with the constant loging in rather than doing it once. It automatically logs a person back out another issue which I've been having is with the carrot app at times it doesnt work and so there are few mistakes hoping the insurance company can take it on board and develop their business to a success.
