“It's a lovely shirt with great materials, but way too big for me. I measured my chest at 41.75 inches, so bought the 42. I like an aero fit that is not compressive. Think I would really need a 38 or possibly less given how beautifully stretchy the fabric is. Had it shipped to my home in Thailand so difficult to exchange now. I'm sure you'd be fine if in the UK.”
Hi Peter we think you look great in it but it's all about personal choice. Just so you don't feel too bad we don't do it in 38 and the 40 is sold out so even if you were in UK you might not be any happier. I'm guessing you won't need may layers in Thailand to bulk it out a bit? So our advice is to eat more pies!🤣
Seriously, if you want to discuss anything please email fatlads@fatladattheback.com and we'll help if we can.
“Very good company and love the ethos of the company and the social media presence. Can’t complain about the quality of the garments or the range of sizes and compared to other high end cycling brands and shops, they offer very good value for money, if I can afford it then I’ll buy it.
Only negatives for me, and I know these will go against the basics of economics but;
cost - ok I know you pay for quality but not all of us can afford to buy all the kit we need.
Sales/sizing(Warning, I may offend some skinnies😁) so getting the size you want is not normally an issue, until it comes to their sales. Most sale stuff is for those not of the ‘fat lad/lass’ definition. Don’t just make the sale about the skinny items you couldn’t sell, give us fat lads and lasses the chance to order the same stuff. Either that or ban skinnies😂😂”
Hi Alex, thanks you so much for the detailed reviews, we genuinely appreciate you took that time - i trust you'll bond with your pad in no time but any issues you know where we are.
Ref the sales - we hear you, however as you correctly state, it's basic economics. We're a brand for bigger people then some skinny minnies wanted to share the gig and so we made some smaller sizes but they just didn't sell as well as the core Fat Lad stuff 🤷♀️ hence we put them in the sale.
We know the kit is an investment but you already know it's premium stuff, and of great importance to us all especially the founders Lynn and Richard, is the way it's produced. There ain't no small kids working 17 hour days producing our stuff, it's all made in factories Lynn has visited where grown-ups are paid a fair wage for a fair days work. So of course that puts the price up a tad.
Just keep an eye on us and the social media and hopefully something your size will be reduced!
Meanwhile thanks so much for all your feedback and of course for buying from us!
Kr, Mandy
“Easy to find stuff on the website. Jersy is good quality. I am a 48" and the 48" Jersey is snug. But this gives me the kick to lose weight. Very pleased my purchase.”
Hi Graham we're pleased you like the top and acknowledge your view of the Fat Lads logo. Whilst we realise it's not for everyone the majority of our customers are very proud to wear both the brand and the logo because we have enabled them to cycle with more confidence, in the correct size gear, and in quality performance kit. As i say though we're aware it's not for everyone. Thanks anyway for taking the time to review, 4* isn't too shabby after all?!
“I loved the quality and design of these shorts. I think the size chart is true to size, however, what I did not anticipate was the leg openings being to large in the quad area. I have an apple shape, these might be better for someone with a pear shape.
I had to return them and was a bit shocked with the cost returning from the USA. Very unfortunate.”
“Great clothing and fit, suggested improvements would be a larger zipped rear pocket on shirts fir valuables.
Delighted with both the clothing and service received.”
“Great design and sense of humour as always. Refreshing change from rather serious minded, snd skinny fitting, traditional cycling gear.
Only fear is that front full length zip might be a bit too lightweight for repeated use over my beer stomach in the long term and give up the fight!
Would have been a 5 otherwise but, possibly a slightly more robust zip might be better and, in my case anyway, any extra weight incurred or loss in aero would be immaterial…..however, that said, worn several times and so far so good.”
Ey up Martin - if you carry on cycling so much tha'll not need to worry about a beer belly! Seriously, zips are a designer's nightmare and something the team are constantly researching so we value your feedback and tar for the review luv!
“Great products for core cycling wear. Live my new bib shorts and still have my old shirt that’s still going strong. Poor quality T-shirt material though. Made a fuller review of T-shirt. Would have been 10 out of 10, not 8, if T-shirt was good as well.”
