Heat pump and hot water tank installation: Each time a EPC improvements representative attended our property for the various surveys they had the wrong layout and one which we'd never discussed. We needed our loft joists to be strengthened to support the new water tank and waited several months for EPC to attend to let us know where the tank would fit so we could strengthen the structure, only for the surveyor to again have the wrong information with him. We later paid a deposit which we were told was to secure the heat pump kit we'd asked for as equipment was becoming more difficult to source, which we paid. When the install was due several months later and only 2 weeks before our green homes grant voucher was due to expire we found out that EPC hadn’t used our deposit money to buy the equipment we’d paid for, and could no longer get the kit we wanted, and only lesser smaller products were now available. We didn't want to compromise on the system and had lost confidence in the EPC management to deliver the project we asked for and requested our deposit back at the end of November 21 and abandoned our chance to use the Green Homes grant voucher. Now end of January 22 we have only just received our deposit back following the senior managements failure to communicate. We recommend you go elsewhere to a more reputable company.

I asked EPC to help me understand if an ASHP would benefit me, as I searched for an alternative to a standard gas boiler. This started with a survey to see what the heat requirements were and to see what would work. The intro meeting was very informative and all my questions were answered by the very knowledgeable engineer. I then received quotes for the works which I asked them to proceed with. We had a few false starts due to equipment delivery problems (thanks to covid) but once started the implementation was completed in a week. The implementation by Ben and Scott was very neat and I was impressed with their work ethic and attention to detail. Now its all finished and even though it -7 outside I have a nice Green solution for heating and hot water and a warm house. I would recommend EPC for anyone considering an ASHP.

A short review of EPC Improvements: Outstanding! A longer review of EPC Improvements: the idea of solar panels fascinated me for many years but for some reason I had an entrenched idea that they were out of my reach. Wrong! Nick, at EPC explained the various options in terms of equipment, service and return and allowed me to reach my own decisions which EPC fully supported. EPC didn't "sell" me a system, they helped me "buy" it. The EPC fitter gave me great confidence in the system as he explained the quality of the components: stainless steel roof fittings, light-weight aluminium rails, the panels and the electrical equipment that makes sure it all works as it should. There was absolutely no mess, no disruption, no obtrusive boxes or cables anywhere. Incredibly neat. The whole process from thinking about solar panels to my first solar powered cuppa took three weeks. I am very happy with EPC.

We paid EPCI (EPCImprovements) over £13,000 to instal and start an ASHP (Air Source Heat Pump) in our two bedroom bungalow a year ago. A new gas boiler would have cost a quarter of that but we had the money and wished to help the environment. The hot water has worked very well except for a short period during a cold spell recently when we only had cold water until our son visited and used the controls to guess how to turn it back on. The heating (underfloor on ground floor, radiator in the loft conversion bedroom and two towel rails) has only been somewhat effective on the ground floor and has not worked at all upstairs or on the towel rails except for 4 or 5 not particularly cold days when it randomly came on. We asked the installation engineer to recommend a control system with internet connectivity. He recommended Hive so we bought the hub and other parts. EPCI's director then said Hive is unreliable and if we fitted it he'd not accept responsibility for any problems. He recommended Heat Miser so we paid EPCI an extra £800 to fit that. Their Heatmiser engineer said EPCI would give us the codes to access the internet but EPCI did not. As we were given no instructions at all on how to work the ASHP and only minimal ones on the Heat Miser we have had nine months with no heating in the bedroom and bathrooms and only OKish heating downstairs. All this changed when the EPCI engineer did our annual (12 months after the hot water was switched on) service. He later emailed us instructions on how to operate the ASHP and set it up so we, in our 70s, are very comfortably warm throughout our home and the hot water is always hot and only runs tepid for the latter part of the second bath if the first bath has just been filled. He explained how to use the heat miser thermostats to supplement the settings he's put in the Mitsubishi ASHP so as to keep us warm but enable us to have it only come on if we are away on holiday or during hot summer months if the house temperature falls to 10 degrees C. He explained the Heat Miser thermostat controls did not, unlike the Hive ones we bought on the instal engineer's recommendation, have a hub for internet connection but he showed us how to connect the ASHP to the internet so it gives us information about its operation and we agreed remote control via heat miser added nothing as we now have it set up from our home. Had the EPCI engineers who installed the ASHP and the Heat Miser thermostats done as excellent a job as the service engineer and ensured we had instructions and knew how to operate everything we should have given EPCI five stars but until the latter took ownership of the task there were delays on each part of the installation and waits for responses to emails and calls e.g on the day we moved in when it was snowing and we had a very cold first 2 days and thereafter nothing like as good as we have now. EPCI made a great initial impression and now we are very happy again. A year of unsatisfactory installation and commissioning with no instructions intervened. If you choose EPCI ensure it does all the initial setting up and explaining correctly. We have revised our star rating from 2 to 4 thanks to the excellent way the service engineer has now enabled us to have a warm home. If you choose EPCI tell it you do not want a first very unsatisfactory nine months with money wasted on devices they recommend and then reject and then you should be able to give it five stars.

Excellent service. I had a problem last year for which EPC were able to help me out although the system had been installed by another company. I'n just had my first service by EPC and am very happy with the the whole process. Mark came yesterday, completed the job, made a couple of recommendations and left me feeling content.

Hey Eunice. We really appreciate the kind review, we're glad we have been able to support you in the heat pump system you had installed with another company. It goes without saying we're here for you whenever you need us. All the best and have a fab day!

A truly dreadful experience. What went wrong? Everything but the in-house design (which was okay) was subcontracted so nothing was seemingly EPC's responsibility - someone else. The in-house engineer/plumber was incompetent. The subcontractor installed the heat pump plumbing wrongly, then the commissioning results and commissioning certificate were fiddled to make everything seem okay. The reality was that the heating system was incapable of being commissioned: radiators never exceeded 33C - hopeless. And it took months for EPC to accept responsibility. The PV installation never happened after 7 months and we had to go elsewhere. Then EPC kept the deposit... EPC backed away from their guarantees and in any case we do not want their service as maintainers: we have no confidence in the company. However, EPC was remarkably prompt in collecting the BUS grant, which they keep! Never a hint of an apology... I could say a lot more...

Two failed inverters in a row, fire hazard caused by poor workmanship, reluctance to respond, refusal to compensate.

I would award 5 stars for the initial survey and installation but only 2/3 stars for resolving problems. There was a problem with completing the installation whilst on-site , but it was resolved next day. There has since been problems with the system not functioning correctly. I.E. home going cold. Made appointment for visit, no show ., contacted EPC and on 3 occasions advised I would receive call back which did not happen. Still waiting for call back and problem to be resolved!

I've given 5 stars because I could not give 4.5. The whole process of having a Stiebel Eltron heat pump and SolarEdge solar PV installed was, in the end, very successful, and I am 100% delighted with the result and quality of the workmanship but there were a few niggles along the way. Probably the thing I found most difficult to deal with was scheduling and arranging installer visits to coincide with the building modernisation work that was being done at the same time. This allowed the equipment to be fitted into the fabric of the house but I found it very difficult to manage installer appointments that were often delayed or arranged with less than 24 hours notice and the installation was broken down into quite small chunks requiring many installer visits. Synchronising these changing and fragmented visits with all my other site contractors was a nightmare. Of course none of this was helped by the pandemic. However the the system provided for both heat pump and solar is top notch and works flawlessly.

Hello David, Thanks so much for your excellent review. You were one of our 1st Stiebel Eltron heat pump with Easytron control installations, and we've done over 100 more heat pump installs since. We're very happy you're enjoying your system. Many thanks Craig

Fantastic knowledge of the products available and EPC were willing to go the extra mile to sort out a system that suits. It's not often you find a company that is genuinely interested in the greener solutions journey rather than just trying to make a quick profit. I would recommend Kai as a consultant as his understanding and explanation of the many variables made a complex situation more accessible.

Great service - particularly with on-going help and support. We had our first annual service over 6 months ago that was very efficient and thorough. I called EPC about a problem today and within a few hours it was successfully resolved remotely. Very helpful customer service - highly recommend!

The system was not installed as per the contractually agreed design. The design was changed on the fly by the installers who claimed to have never seen the design

The One Year service was outstanding. The day after our EPCImprovements Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) was switched on we moved into our refurbished house with dozens of things to sort out. The temperature plummeted and it snowed and we had difficulty controlling the heating but not the hot water which has always been excellent. A year later the service engineer not only transformed our ability to control and adjust the heating but took great pains to ensure we understood it and since then the heating has also been just right. There was a part which proved to have a fault which he had replaced by a colleague which made the control just perfect but he kept in touch to check we are happy and responded promptly to the questions we emailed or texted him - we are not gifted IT users generally but are now gifted ASHP users. We've had snow again since his visit and we knew how to handle the outside temperature variations so just admired the pictureque views from inside our warm home. He's even promised to do our next year's service which as his aim is to spend as long (or short) a time as necessary to ensure we are entirely happy is great news.

EPC have just installed 7 solar panels -- small beer compared to some! They have been helpful throughout - scaffolding and equipment delivered on time and all workmen efficient and helpful . I'm probably their oldest customer ( 81!) but am looking forward to lots of free electricity. Thankyou EPC.

We've been working with EPC Improvements for the last 6 months on a project which included a 32 panel solar system and a Air Source Heat Pump system for our home. The whole process has been great from start to finish and whilst there have been some road bumps along the way (as there always are in home improvement projects) we have always felt confident with EPC. A couple of stand out points for me have been that there has never been a hard sell (in fact, the total opposite, allowing us to change our minds throughout the process as to what was best and even dropping a couple of things from the project on their recommendation) and the communication throughout, which includes their amazing knowledge and friendliness in answering (a lot of) questions. In addition all of the companies/sub-contractors that EPC work with have been brilliant as well! Credit to everyone they work with. We would highly recommend EPC Improvements for your home project

From start to finish I had exemplary service from the team at EPC. They were knowledgeable and friendly and their attention to detail meant that I knew I had chosen the right company. The quality of the plumbing workmanship is the best I have ever seen - very neat and tidy. My property, which had no central heating or hot water, is now beautifully warm and comfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

I can recommend EPC improvements whose sales team, project managers and admin support staff are informative and enthusiastic in all they do. This company engaged an installation team who worked quickly and tidily and were a pleasure to have around the house. Ours is a large open plan but well insulated, modern house benefitting from underfloor heating throughout and therefore ideal for the installation of an Air Source Heat Pump therefore the decision to replace our oil boiler was not hard make. The Steibel Eltron unit is easy on the eye and whisper quiet when running. There were some minor teething problems interfacing the new unit with our existing heating control system all of which were dealt with speedily and efficiently by EPC. We now await the onset of winter to really test the systems ability to keep us warm and well supplied with hot water.
