I took out this policy for peace of mind for my two daughters I get a phone call from my daughter crying and very scared. She was driving through some very dark quiet and quite narrow lanes when she had a blowout. The car was in a very dangerous position on the road that's without my daughter being very vulnerable and scared. Gave them a call and they refused to come out Stating a blowout is classed as a collision not a breakdown. I had to eventually find a emergency tyre repair company who made their way to my daughter to assist her. So if your planning on taking out one of their polices for peace of mind don't bother The customer service is obviously trained to fob you off once they have taken your money

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY. You will be trapped into paying huge unforeseen fees. I took out my policy on 10th October and thankfully having it in place, I had to call for assistance concerning a flat battery, on 29th October. One of their nominated vehicle technicians attended and helped me to get the car started via a jump-start. When I drove off and in the direction of the garage where I have my vehicle serviced/repaired (4 miles away), I was no more than 1.5 miles into my journey and had to stop in a line of traffic that just reached back to the exiting lane of a large roundabout. As soon as I came to a stop, my car immediately shut down and I was once more unable to start it. I was not informed before starting my journey, that I should have isolated ALL engine management systems, including the start/stop system. Being stranded in a very dangerous position that was now impeding oncoming traffic, I called Emergency Assist once again to explain my car had broken down and still unable to use my car. I was then told that as I had used the service that day, I COULD NOT request a further call-out concerning the same fault and would have to pay £192.50 for an additional attendance. With little choice at my disposal and their adamant unsympathetic nature to my dilemma, I chose to pay the cost to be rescued. It took the same service technician 30 seconds to assist me when he arrived some 45 minutes later. Since the incident, I have written to Emergency Assist to request their help in assisting with a refund for the additional charge. They have flatly denied my claim, with a ‘full and final email’ simply placing the blame upon myself and, copying and pasting terms from their Membership Policy, telling me they are not responsible for the same fault on the same day. Having spent most of my life working in the service sector and recognising a fault that cannot be blamed on the customer, I have discovered that this Company are sadly one of those who sell their service cheaply to attract new business but, have no care or concern for their members once they are locked into a policy. I warn all drivers who are considering using Emergency Assist. Pay a little more with a reputable company. You will not be sorry when you need ‘emergency assistance’.

Extremely Disappointing Experience with Emergency Assist Ltd I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Emergency Assist Ltd regarding their misleading policies. After changing my vehicle, I was shocked to learn that the 14-day inception period for the Parts and Labour Membership reset—a detail that was never mentioned during the process or clearly outlined in their terms. When I tried to make a claim, this critical information was conveniently withheld until it was time to pay out. Despite contacting their team, I received no proper explanation, and my complaint was dismissed with generic responses. This lack of transparency feels like a deliberate tactic to avoid honoring claims. I expected better from a company trying to compete with reputable brands like The AA and RAC. I’ve now escalated this to the Ombudsman and would advise others to think twice before choosing Emergency Assist Ltd. Their customer service and practices are far from reliable. 1/5 – Would not recommend.

Avoid at all costs! I was a lone female and waited 2 hours for recovery truck. The journey was a nightmare - guy drove like a lunatic and swore constantly about the time this recovery would take??? Didn’t even look under my car bonnet. Was dumped and had to make my own way home (12 miles away and infrequent bus services to get home). They also operate as 2Gether Insurance. Broke down on way to hospital appointment, had National Recovery but again lengthy delay in recovery and had to pay £433.18 to be recovered!!!! Apparently my breakdown was ‘outwith the agreement’ ! This was decided after my garage had sent them details regarding the engine failure! Staff on helpline very unhelpful, I was even told that the road I was on ‘didn’t exist’!! Google maps provided me with that information. I was asked for a landmark - I was in the countryside with only fields either side of me. Dreadful experiences with BOTH companies. Complete waste of money and definitely NOT ‘peace of mind’ if you broke down. Would have given a huge negative rating if one had been available!

Avoid avoid avoid !!!!! I originally took this “complete” policy out as i was travelling through Germany and i am soooooo grateful now i did not need assistance while over there. I was only 35 miles from my home address when my car failed to start i was asked a series of questions which felt like i was being interrogated. After around 20 minutes on this call i was told i had to chose a local garage to have my car recovered to…… this was 16:00 and i did not know any local garage i could simply off load my car off to as they were about to close for the day. I asked to be recoverd home or local garage to me and i was told no it needs to be local to the breakdown location. I questioned if my call had been 1/2hours later when all garages would be closed then what would happen and that my complete cover was sold as national recovery….. i was left in silence. I need to ring back when i can tell them a local garage. They would only send a road side assist if i agreed no recovery (to local garage) would then be actioned. I rang around a few garages and was told too busy/cant help and to that effect. I had to pay £230 to a local recovery to get my car recovered and i will be contacting trading standards about this scam company. It is not that i did not have adequate cover i had purchased the top complete cover which is a lie on all the advertised wordings of the policy. Absolute crooks!!

Stranded in the early hours. Having hit a badger. Rang. Apparently classed as accident not breakdown, so options only to get towed to secure pound to be released only when insurance claimed, or pay ourselves. This would be £800. Bearing in mind this was early hours with wife and kids. 2 hours potential wait. So we said no thank you and paid a local, amazing recovery company, who couldn't have been more helpful. Sorry but Emergency Assist is a con.

PLEASE , PLEASE, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!. They will not provide the service you pay for. On my first ever calll to them for a flat battery , i was interrogated by Anthony, the call handler as to the reason the car battery was flat. He was persistent in wanting to know why the battery was fIat, as I didnt know, i stated it MAY have been an interior light left or not, as I could never check that. He then advised that they would only provide ' paid assistance' as i had left a light on . In other words they contact a garage who charge me ( !!!???) i argued back that I never said that the light was the reason just that it may have been . It 'may' have been another fault . They clearly used any reason to avoid providing the cover i had paid for , which was their highest cover level, Platinum. AVOID AVOID AVOID !!! Date of experience: 06 November 2024

Absolute disgrace, phone call took nearly an hour to answer. Car was making an alarming noise from the wheel and seemed unsafe to move. The operator said that because it could move it was not covered by the policy and refused to help unless I paid a further £125

Do not use this company. My son broke down and called them at 11:45. They gave him a time which came and went. Repeat calls to them were met with excuse after excuse of why the support hadn't arrived (traffic, lorry had broken down). This continued for 7 hours. We were given the number of the company who they said were coming to help us. Called the number and it was not in service. Called again to EA and could not get any answer. Finally got through via the insurance route and they said the tow truck had arrived but we weren't there....a complete and utter lie as where else could we have been but waiting for them. Safe to say a few choice words were shared and they hung up. Had to sort a separate service..which was superb, at our cost. Save your money and do not use this company.

My car had an error saying 'Engine Malfunction' and didn't seem to have any power. I was parked at home but called to confirm I had cover for HomeStart and they said yes. They asked me if the battery was flat and I said I don't know, it could be I can't tell. They asked me again and I said the alarm had gone off in the night - they said that was irrelevant, they then proceeded to ask me again if the battery could be flat, if a light could have been left on etc (at this point I was wondering why they were asking the same question repeatedly and in quite a forceful way) so I said yeah it could be possible but I don't know for sure. They then said as I had been asked 3 times and confirmed that a light had been left on, that they would not come to me unless I paid £125. I then asked if I paid and they came and found out that it wasn't the battery or my fault, would the £125 be refunded to which they replied no. Complete and utter con. Turned out it was the alternator so I'm glad I didn't pay the £125 fee and sorted through someone else.

Unresolved Claim for Breakdown in Spain I am writing to express my frustration and deep dissatisfaction with the handling of my case following a breakdown in Spain. This is the WORSE company ever!! On August 31, 2024. My partner, child, and I have been stranded since that date, and the service provided has been nothing short of appalling. Despite multiple follow-ups, I have been met with incorrect information, conflicting advice, and outright lies from various advisers. As of today, 16 days have passed, and my car is still sitting at a depot in Spain with no clear resolution in sight. I am still without a car, have received no refund for the costs incurred, and there has been no mention of compensation for this distressing situation. I was informed that Tom Coates, Head of Department, is managing my case, yet I have received no updates whatsoever. Do NOT deal with them! Sandro Teixeira

Avoid at all costs!!! Called breakdown in June as car wouldn't start, mechanic arrived confirmed it was a flat battery and battery needed replacing, paid mechanic for a new battery that they fitted. Fast forward to today.....battery light came on, stranded in a layby on a dual carriageway, phone breakdown....they won't come out unless I pay upfront as we have had a starting issue before and this could be due to the same issue!!! We had the battery replaced by them......how on earth could it be the same thing!!! Female on my own and they wouldn't come out unless I paid upfront and then for every mile if they had to recover the car!! I could then claim it back if it wasn't the same thing.....not a chance. Do yourself a favour save your money and get decent cover not from this joke of an organisation

I put the wrong fuel in my car on Thursday at 6pm. I pulled onto the busy roundabout at High Wycombe above the M40 in the rush hour and broke down. I was in the middle of the roundabout with cars hurtling up behind me for over an hour. I had my 86 year old mother with me who had just had a full knee replacement who I was bringing back from the hospital. I called emergency Assist and said I had a Premium contract and wantd to be towed home. I was told that they would only tow me 24 miles and my house was 27 miles away. I asked what alternative there was and they said give us a more local address. I said a local garage if there would be one open but they were not able to help me locate one - told me to use yell.com ... from a packed roundaboiut above the M40 in the rush hour with my 86 year old mother. They said they could tow me home for a cash contract then and there for over £440. I said that was no solution and they needed to come up with a solution. The guy on the phone said he couldnt help and that only a supervisor could and there wouldnt be one available until the next morning. They left us totally stranded.
