“We installed a good quality, expensive stove about six years ago and like many others sourced wood from local suppliers, advertised as ‘well seasoned hardwood.’ We went through two burning seasons struggling to get the stove to burn properly, we tried opening vents, closing vents, leaving the door ajar etc. The glass was always black with a dull orange glow behind it but no beautiful flames! We could hear the fire sizzling with steam each time we opened the door and got little heat out of it. We thought we had wasted the thousands of pounds spent fitting this wood burner until through my work travelling abroad I saw kiln dried logs being used in Sweden. All the wood burners had the same logs stacked next to them and had beautiful flickering fires and clear glass. I enquired and was told the logs were kiln-dried birch. That’s is when we started burning kiln-dried birch logs and have never been tempted to use anything else. We now have an efficient wood burner that is hot, has clear glass all the time and a beautifully orange coloured fire each and every time its lit! A wood burner is a serious investment that deserves the correct fuel, dried to the optimum level of moisture content, we learnt the hard way. Don’t make the same mistake we did and you will get great results. Thanks to John and Calido for perfect quality logs every time!”

“Have bought logs,briquettes and stoves from John at Calido and never missed a beat. Whether picking them up yourself or getting them delivered the service is always friendly and helpful keeping you straight on just what is the right combustable for your appliance. I have sourced over the last 20 years wood from many nationwide suppliers and have found Calido to be the best quality and value for money and buy our whole winters supply from them.”

“Great service. Easy online shop and you can choose delivery day which suits you. Down point was they came the day before we'd asked and truck was so big it couldn't come down our driveway so we had to humph the bags ourselves. Good logs though. Would buy again.”
