Misleading ad re size of large crate and in particular cost per cubic metre.

Hi there, I’m really sorry to hear the crate size. We aim for accuracy and value, so I appreciate you flagging this. The volumes stated on the website are clearly stated as loose cubic meter and not a stacked cubic meter. The loose volume we use is calculated in line with Woodsure conversion factors from stacked to loose meter cube. For clarity, a stacked m3 volume is the logs neatly stacked like in our crates, the loose volume is if you tipped them all into a heap of filled them loosely into bulk bags. The loose volume figure that we state is the industry standard way of describing firewood volumes as it allows easy comparison between crates, nets, bulk bags, truck loads and so on. Kind regards, John Calido Logs & Stoves

Poor after sales service. Nothing but excuses

Hi Jared, we are saddened to see the 1 star review you have left for us. One of your points in your email to us before leaving this review was the cost and we have reduced our delivery fee to your postcode by £30 per pallet, saving you £60 on your order. We did also explain the difference in kindling you had received, it's not an excuse and we did have supply issues last year. The size of the logs can also differ in due to them being a natural product, again not an excuse, logs are a natural product and whilst we can control the length they are cut to, we can't always control the other sizes. We would have been happy to discuss things further with you, but my reply to your email went unanswered. Lauren ~ Calido

Usually log briquettes from Calido are great. The most recent delivery is awful however. There is something wrong with either the wood or the construction of the briquettes. They are far too soft - they can be broken in half with just a slight hand pressure. They seem to burn well initially but then they rapidly disintegrate in the log burning stove and swamp the stove with unburned and semi-burned material, dowsing the fire. They do not maintain a sufficient heat to burn - the stove requires much more oversight: stirring the unburned material to bring it to the surface, opening of air valves that are usually only needed to light the stove, and addition of other wood types to get it up to temperature. I am very unhappy with these logs which are pretty much unusable.

I remember buying from this company on a few occasions but the prices they are now charging are very expensive. I will not be using them again. I think the prices are over charging and while the "delivery " is free the total price is very expensive.

Dear Stephen, Thank you for your custom over the years however it's disappointing that you now felt the need to leave us a negative review. The manufacturer of Hotties heat Logs (BSW ENERGY) have significantly increased the cost price of Hotties when we buy them in. We actually stopped selling them for a period of time as we felt the price was now too high but we got them back in due to customer demand. We now make less money per pallet of Hotties than we ever did. We buy in good quality products, we add a modest margin and delivery and we do our best to get the products to our customers at a reasonable price. When a manufacturer brings in a 30% price rise we simply can't absorb that type of increase. Rather than buying the most expensive briquette we offer and having you leave a negative review we would have been more than happy to guide you to an other product like our Calido fire logs which we think are just as good and they are better priced. Given the above perhaps you'd see fit to amend your review score. King Regards, John Farrell Owner Calido

Dear Calido, Very disappointed, Your blocs make nearly twice as much ash, burn no hotter than real logs, they last little more than an hour, they also leave a residue on the wood burner glass. I will not be reordering, I feel slightly cheated having paid £299 for no real advantage.

The logs are great but the delivery was a total disaster. The pallet was delivered o Friday 4th of December, in a blizzard the driver dropped the pallet in the road then couldn’t move it, his moving equipment was totally inadequate in the snow, he then told my 78 year old husband he was going to leave it in the road. My poor husband, who also has a heart condition, then ended up shovelling the snow and after begging the driver to help ended up pushing the pallet up our long drive, I arrived home and had to empty the pallet into our garage as the contents were getting soaked, hence we lost the entire top layer of logs.!!!!!!
