“We used Bob Books to make a wedding photo book, having been quoted £400 for a small book by our wedding photographer (!). By comparison, the Bob Books option is incredibly good value, allows you to design layout as you like and the quality is very high - would recommend. We did decide to go for the more expensive matte paper option for one of the books and would NOT recommend this option, however, as the photo quality looked considerably poor as a result (which should not necessarily be the case - I have seen excellent quality matte printing elsewhere). When we told customer services we were disappointed by the print quality the book was swiftly replaced by a standard gloss finish - so the customer service was excellent and now we are completely happy. My only suggestion would be to clearly advertise on the website the difference in image quality you may have if you select the current matte paper option.”

Hello, I’m pleased that we managed to get you a book that you were happy with. Paper type is very subjective and depends on the contents of your book and personal preference. For wedding books people often tend to go for the lustre photographic range but, again, it really is personal preference as alternatively, other customers prefer something more glossy or matte for their wedding images. “Annual photo book arrived promptly; with several commenting on the high quality of the photographs. I have previously been happy with the picture quality, but it seems to have improved. Software is generally straightforward to use. My only minor grumble - and it is nothing to do with the book itself - is that I would like some form of cardboard sleeve for the book rather than presentation boxes. I use the annual photobook to replace photo albums; looking at my parents' photo albums spanning 60 years - although the print is unlikely to fade - the cover itself does not look as robust. A sleeve would enable the books to sit on shelves, display the spine label, but protect also.”

“Lovely books with a wide range of way to conceive and publish it. You can do it on an app or download the ready to use templates in In Design for a more professional approach. The only downside was the shipping, a bit too long (I think), with no tracking.”

“I am still awaiting feedback from my client as to the printing quality. The actual software and design process was fine. There were two major hiccups however - Only when I submitted the book, did I see as the high res images were loading that for some reason a handful had come out very grainy. In the software, they had looked fine. I called the office as soon as they were open the following morning only to be told that it was impossible for them to halt the order (even though I had only ordered close to midnight the previous day). Two separate people then gave me different accounts of whether the images looked grainy or not (I am a professional photographer and there is no problem with the quality of the images when viewed on my Mac) This lack of consistency and lack of flexibility was rather surprising given my order was for several hundred pounds worth of books. I also subsequently learnt that due to a bug in the system the font which I had selected for the cover had been reset to a completely different font. There was also no acknowledgement of this bug even though I explained the situation and it was clear that my font had suddenly become unselectable and could only be refound by removing the title block and starting again.”

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent Bob Books experience. As you placed your order in the run up to Christmas we were printing 24hours a day, and also offering 24 hour phone support. Unfortunately your books were already printed by time you called the following morning, and therefore could not be cancelled. This is why we offered you the goodwill discount. In regards to your mention of grainy images, while your images were of print quality, the filter that you applied on your original image is what caused the grainy look. A photo will always look different when viewed on screen than in print for a variety of reasons including the fact that less pixels are needed to show a clear image on screen than in print and your screen is backlit. Additionally, the printing method and paper will also affect the final look in the book. Any editing you choose to do on images will affect how your photos are printed. Unfortunately, If you are using a new treatment on an image which you haven’t already testing in print, you might occasionally find less than desirable results. I have asked requested more information from our customer care team about the font issue you mentioned, however, we haven’t been able to find any record of it, or a similar issue reported by any other customers. “Fantastic service. Great little photobook. Reasonably expensive but the quality is very good and for ease of use on the app taking photos straight from my phone and the speedy delivery I feel you get what you pay for. I’ll be using them again next Christmas!”

“I was really impressed with the quality of Bob books that I received just before Christmas (also quicker than the predicted time). The two books were wedding albums as a gift for our parents. The matt flat book had great paper thickness, opened completely flat and the backs were not too dark, so all the details of black and white photos were visible! The only annoying part is the bar code that was not only on the outer side of the back cover page but also on the inside. Also the parcel arrived very securely packed so there was no way for any damage to the books, nicely the two books were packed seperately so could be handed in even in the cardboard packaging. Generally perfect though! So well done guys!”
