The book I received was not what I thought I ordered. I went on the chat service and they asked me to send it back and would give me a voucher to reorder it. I sent the item back by recorded delivery and have not heard anything since. I went back on the chat service and was told someone would be in contact. I have still not ears anything two weeks later.

Hi sorry for delay in replying , but I was disappointed with the result for some reason The cover had over written in black [photos to print ] and the date only showed 20 instead of 2015 . and one photo near back of book was blurred! This was a 2nd try at doing this I used another firm for my calender's, but having read the write up about you I decided to give you a try . I found it a lot easier to set up the book after a bit of trouble but willing to learn .I have to find out how to add info of each photo . . Regards Stewart

Using the smart phone app it didn't show some text which was partially outside the of the printable range until the order had been placed. I don't think this was clear and as such we ended up with a product that was completely unusable.

The photo book was badly printed, with most photos looking nothing like the ones that I had uploaded. They had printed dark, with detail lost. Really poor printing and complete lack of quality checks to allow it come out as it did, bearing no resemblance to photos as showing on screen on the upload. I am now being refunded, but the experience with Bobs Books was very poor.

Thanks for reminding me. You said that you'd give me a refund if my order didn't arrive by Xmas. I sent in a framed poster well before Xmas for a present. You sent me someone else's which I immediately returned with a request for the right one. There was still time for you to get the right one to me on time, but nothing happened until I gave you a reminder. And then it was too late. And now you have the gall to send me this automatic questionnaire - a complete lack of personal care wouldn't you say?

Dear Toby, Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us. I am very sorry for the problems you experienced with your order. Unfortunately, by the time we had become aware of the mistake, the last Christmas order date for that product had passed and we were unable to get the item produced and shipped from Prague in time for pre-Christmas delivery. I had to download the software 5 times in order to complete the book. Your technical support were very helpful but it took a long time to resolve and I ended up having to rush the design in order to get the delivery for Christmas. Each time I downloaded the software I was able to work on the book but once I closed it, the desktop stopped working and I had to re - download it saving it with a different suffix - as advised by Jim Henderson in Customer Care. It was a very frustrating process. At the end I would have liked to change to a hard cover, but discovered I would have to reduce the number of pages which would have meant a redesign and because of the issues I had I did not have time to do this. So it was a very frustrating process.

Its not something that I've heard about from other customers before, so I can't say why you were having this issue. Also, our hardcover books generally allow for more pages than our paperback books, so I am not sure why you would have had to reduce the number of pages in your book to change the cover type. If you would like to discuss this, or perhaps order the book again, but with a hardback cover, please do get in touch with us and hopefully we can get to the bottom of this. I have published 7 previous books with you and generally been very happy indeed, although I did have one issue with slight white edging on the cover of one. However I am very disappointed with the 8th. In simple terms the photos have come out far darker than the originals, and darker than they look on the template. In summary, I would like you to reprint the book, and ask how we begin that process. Thank you David Reilly

This was the first time I used BOB BOOKS. I wanted to create a photo book to celebrate my brother's special birthday. I found the creation site was very difficult to use in that it seemed to be geared up to a very rigid workflow. For example, when I put all the pohotos I wanted into the book, the system said there were another 8 or so pages. Since I had used the pages I wanted I did not want anymore but there was no method I could see of finishing the book without a lot of blank pages. I emailed BOB BOOKS for assistance and got no reply. With a deadline coming up I ended up spending a lot of time trying to fill pages that I didn't want. Very unhelpful site and no help from staff at BOB BOOKS.

Hello Geoff, Thank you for your email, we received an email from you through our contact us form,, however this appears to differ from the email address you used to place your order. I am sorry you did not receive the reply. In regards to our page numbers, our minimum number of pages is 26, and our page numbers are fixed and go up in sets of 8. It is not possible to have less than 26 pages in your photobook, this information is listed on our products and pricing pages, and in our help section, also all our creator tools open with the minimum required 26 pages. The quality of the photos in the book we received this time was far below what we have previously experienced. Some were very grainy and poor. Very disappointing.

I have taken a look at your files and am wondering if this may have been caused by the use of photos taken on a mobile device? These would have been taken at a lower resolution and may account for the graininess of the image quality. Low resolution images are usually picked up by our software and a warning symbol should appear on images which may not be printed out sharp enough, I am so sorry you missed this. Please note turnaround times vary depending on the book format. Production and delivery to the UK is within 10-12 working days for all large landscape books, large portrait books and all photographic paper books. The turnaround time for all other books is 7-10 working days. European orders please allow an additional four to five working days. Initially the web site was good. Easy to understand and use. However I could not use the downloadable version so I used the web based book build. Initially it was very good but as I progressed the site went slower and slower, kept freezing and even throwing me out. I had completed half of the book by this stage so I had to continue. It became extremely frustrating and annoying so much so it took me over 2 weeks to complete as I could only load so many photos per night due to its slowness and ineffectiveness I tested other sites and other PC's and they were all good so sure it was Bob Books site. Some nights I got nowhere having waited an hour for it to load. Online chat did not help. Additionally as I had to return to the site many times and had numerous photos shown as used indicated by a tick, it kept mixing up the used photos so it became confusing which ones I had used once or twice as they stopped being in the initial used order, some even disappeared altogether. I also wanted 1 to 2 more pages not 8 as 6 would have been blank but was told this was not possible. I don't understand that, as running over by 1 or 2 must happen all the time. I couldn't do any more to the book as I was at the end of my tether and had used so much time on the run up to my daughters 18th birthday that I just had to print it and learn a hard lesson. Very unsatisfied with my experience.

Hello Simon, Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. Having taken a look at your photobook, it looks like you have placed quite a large number of images per page. Most customers use between 1 – 6, occasionally on a few pages you might use 12 or more. As you have used the Online Book Creator, your book is designed on-line requiring internet connection, the number of images would have caused the Online Book Creator to become slow and buggy. I can see you did contact use using our Live Chat feature, a member of our customer care team did reply to you, but did not receive a response so was unable to help you further. To streamline our production we only allow page number increases in sets of 8, but continue to look into ways we might decrease this in the future. I am so sorry you did not have an enjoyable experience with Bob Books, as a gesture of good will, we would like to offer you a 20% discount to use on your next book. To avoid the same issues occurring I would suggest you use fewer images per page and consider increasing the page numbers if you must include all the images you have used in your current book. This can be due to an uncalibrated screen, which means you do not get a clear idea of what your printed images will appear as. Quality of printed photos is very poor. Our photos had great resolution taken with a dslr which doesnt justify how poor they came out. Will not use again and will not recommend

Over the years I have made a number of photo books and calenders, with a good success. However, the five calendars I did this year had very poor quality of printing. This has left me very disappointed and I question if I will used Bob Books next year.

This is the third order that I have placed with Bob Books and is the only one that I have not been 100% happy with. The whole process seemed confused, I have not received an email telling me that the books have been despatched, that have not been received at the address in Spain that they were meant to be sent to. Far Far different for my previous experiences and this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth and makes me wonder if I will use Bob Books again. You even got my name wrong in the email asking me to take part in this survey, you addressed it to the person the books have, hopefully, been despatched to! Michael Wassell

It was sent out to the delivery address in Spain on the 25th of November within our turn around time. We have not had notification from you that it was not received. Hardest book I have ever done. Some pages took me 2 hours because the online book froze time and time again. Called your help desk and they recommended starting again offline. Not an option when you are 79 pages in.

Hi Jacquelyn, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you had a difficult time placing your order. The Online Book Creator does require consistent internet connection throughout the designing of your photobook, I am so sorry if you missed this. The Bob Designer software is a more reliable option as you design your book offline and only connect when you upload and place your order. There is no way to transfer books created from one design tool to another. I am sorry for any frustration caused, do feel free t get in touch if you wish to discuss this further.

Email already sent and product returned. Really poor quality images on final product that weren't notified as being low resolution (poor quality on some that were not low resolution) - not apparent on review that this would be an issue

I sent an email after my disappointment about my photobook looking for the reason my photos look overexposed and flat. I asked from you to review some of my photos and tell me what was your opinion about them. I didn't receive any reply to that email. So I went to a local professional photographer to ask for help and to find out what went wrong. I think that it was quite easy for you to reply and tell me that it might the monitor settings I use wrong

We are very sorry that you didn't receive a reply to one of your emails. Unfortunately, the images attached to your email were too large for our system to accept, so your email didn't reach us. I was looking forward to receiving my first photo book from Bobs Books, however, when it arrived, there had been a printing error, and the front page was missing. They reprinted it for me (at no charge as it was their error), but this delayed receipt, and it was meant as a gift for a special occasion. Disappointing.

The book never arrived. I got a refund, fast, which is good, but still not what I wanted! This may be the fault of the postal service, not Bob Books, but I would suggest that for international deliveries you use a service that can be tracked...

Unfortunately we are unable to offer a tracked service for international delivery as the cost of delivery for a few copies is usually a lot more than the cost of the photobook and much more than the £5.99 that we charge for delivery to all Countries.
