The loo card was fine and may well be useful, but I didn't like having Bladder and Bowel Community on the outside of the envelope it arrived in, for all to see

Hi, Thank you for your review. We constantly review our services and performances so your feedback is vital to that process. We've taken a considered approach to the packaging for our postage and believe we have the right mix of being easily identifiable (so the receiver does not throw it away believing it to be junk mail) whilst keeping fairly discreet. I hope you understand what we are trying to achieve. Kind regards B&BC Team

It was very helpful to be able to get a just can't wait card as I am a 13 year old with ehlers danlos syndrome which means I have a hypermobile bladder and often need the toilet. I didn't want to use the card at first because the leaflet that came with it just had pictures of old people on it and so I was worried people might laugh at me. I think the organisation is too focused on the old. They're not the only ones with problems and it can be off putting.

Hi Jonte, Thank you for your review. You're absolutely right to call us out on the fact that we do use a lot of imagery that isn't aligned with your generation when in fact there are thousands of young people in the UK who suffer from bladder and/or bowel conditions. It's something we are aware of and looking to change so as not to put off the younger generation from seeking help and advice from us. Part of our aim is to make as many people as possible aware of the Just Can't Wait cards so that everyone who needs one has one, and those that don't need one are aware of what they are and why people use them. With that in mind I hope you continue to use the card, not only to help yourself when you need it the most, but to help educate more people about it as well. If you have any further questions or would like more on information on anything then please do send us an email help@bladderandbowel.org Kind regards B&BC Team

I am having problems with shops accepting the card as they say they haven't heard of the about the bladder and bowel scheme . So based on my experience I can't give a score yet.

Hi, thank you for your review. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources required, both financial and monetary, to allow us to print a name or photo on the card. The costs involved in doing this would also mean that we wouldn't be able to offer the card free of charge either. We also can't obtain proof of requirement for the card either - we do not have access to medical records and there are millions of people in the UK who need a card but haven't had a diagnosis from their GP/Continence specialist. We appreciate that anyone can order the card, but that's something we're prepared to face to ensure that those who really need it are able to get one without it costing them anything. Kind regards B&BC Team

Allows ppl with these problems to not feel ashamed when going out HOWEVER, anyone can order this like I did with no real bladder or bowel problem, obviously it’s hard to check whether or not the person has a real condition but... yeah. I won’t actually be using the card in real life I just put in my details and clicked confirmed and was suprised when it actually went through!

Hi Chima, Thank you for your review. We took a decision around a year ago to make the cards completely free to ensure that anyone who needed one was would easily be able to get one. We have been able to fund this by taking on board a partner who was prepared to give something back to the community in this way. We strive to offer the best possible service and it would be impossible from a data protection and legal stance to check every single applicant has received a diagnosis from their GP, especially as many of the 14 million people in the UK who suffer from a bladder condition have not been diagnosed from a medical point of view anyway. Naturally, we're disappointed that people feel the need to order a card when they don't actually require one. Although the cost of time and resource may seem insignificant per individual card, it can soon add up and means that we are not able to assist the community in other ways that are desperately needed. If you don't need the card and are not going to use it we would be grateful if you could return it to the address below so that we are able to send it to someone who does require it. This is a good idea and reassuring to have. I walk for 2 hours daily and somtimes need to pee at all sorts of times. Having this card helps to explain my needs and creates a sympathetic response.

I have less embarrasment showing a retailer the card rather than asking when people are present However having used it 5 times i still found the retailer to refuse me and that was 5 out of 5 seperate stores even though they obviously have staff facilities

Nothing much one can say about a card that does what it says it will do, that is to tell someone you need a toilet urgently.
