“Booking was very thorough with plenty of options offered. We stayed in 3 hotels , middle one was supposed to be a 5* but felt more like a 4*, pool was disappointing and whilst staff ok didn’t feel as attentive as the other 2 hotels . They also had booking in wrong name which caused problems with luggage pick up and check in but was sorted after a short while.Hotel in Split advertised as have roof pool, only really for sitting in or kids , set up to stand with calf’s in water whilst having a drink so a disappointment. Transfers were all very smooth , if leaving from Dubrovnik to Hvar would recommend getting there in plenty of time as boat was packed with some people left standing . Dubrovnik lovely, took the ferry to Lokrum island which was much cooler and a pleasant change. You will need beach shoes as it is rocky on all the beaches and saw lots of sea urchins . Loved Croatia and would go back , next time to explore more island and an island cruise away from main tourist areas. We went in June and it was just starting to get busy locals recommended May and September, sea chilly in June so would probably go for September when it has warmed up a bit. We would use Balkan escapes again but do more research into the hotels next time.”

“This was our first visit to beautiful Croatia and we thoroughly enjoyed our fantastic multi centre island hopping holiday to Split, Hvar, Korcula and Dubrovnik with each area offering something a bit different. We are very happy with the service provided by Balkan Escape in organising the itinerary, flights, transfers and hotels and adjusting these to meet our requirements. It was great to have the itinerary and documents both electronically and on paper for peace of mind, although we found in practice the hotels and taxi transfers did not need any booking documents, whereas the ferries did. We also appreciated the extra tips and recommendations for excursions which helped us plan our days out to Trogir, Krka National Park and Cavtat and get good value in Dubrovnik with the Dubrovnik pass. We were generally very pleased with all the hotels, which were as booked, as expected and in good locations. All the transfers by ferry and to and from the ports to hotels and airports went very smoothly until the final airport transfer where, unfortunately, the driver was significantly delayed and then cancelled due to a major traffic accident in Dubrovnik, which was out of the taxi operator and Balkan Escape's control. Suffice to say that we followd Balkan Escape's prior advice to use Uber and the driver whisked us to the airport just in time and the fare was promptly refunded by Balkan Escape. We have already recommended Balkan Escape to friends and family and would definitely consider using them again if travelling to Croatia or the Balkan area due to their friendly service and specialist knowledge.”

“The staff at Balkan Escapes have all been very helpful and courteous and have dealt with any queries promptly and efficiently. We have thoroughly enjoyed our fly drive holiday to Slovenia which is a beautiful country and would definitely book through your company again and recommend you to friends. The hotels were all really good. The location of the hotel in Ljubljana was great for getting to the centre of the old town. Our initial room was next to the bar area and so we were concerned about noise as the England/Slovenia football match was due. We asked for a room change which was accommodated without difficulty and we enjoyed our stay very much. The Sunrose 7 hotel, Bohinj, was lovely and the food was excellent. The Grand Hotel Portoroz was very central and we had a great sea view room and balcony. We were able to catch the local bus into Piran and loved wandering around the town. Our only concern has been that Sixt car hire didn't come out to check over the car for damage at the pick up or drop off. We were shown damage to the car on a drawing on a mobile device in the office and told we would be sent a copy via email but this never arrived. The car was checked by them an hour after we had left it on our return. We were informed via email on return home there was a less than 1cm dent (paint work not broken) and we should fill in a report and would be notified in ten days whether we would be held liable and have to pay for the damage. We have not heard from them as yet. The dent could only be detected by use of a reflective card with lines on it showing one line was slightly bent/broken. We could not see the dent in the pictures they sent. We responded to say we do not accept liability and are waiting to hear from them. It was very disappointing to receive this on our return and we do not think Sixt have dealt with the pick up and drop off of the car as we would have expected to ensure any damage was properly detected and noted. This is something that should be taken up with them and it would be advisable to warn your customers about it in the future if you continue to use them. We are awaiting their response to see if they intend to hold us liable. It was disappointing to end such a lovely holiday and experience with the email from Sixt and we do hope the matter is resolved satisfactorily. “We booked our holiday through Balkan Escapes having contacted 3 travel agents for a quote on an itinerary my husband and I had come up with. Balkan Escapes were the only company who responded on the same day and with results aligned to what we asked for. As part of the booking process, with their knowledge of Croatia, they helped us tweak our ideas and come up with the perfect itinerary, which involved flights, transfers, multiple hotels, car hire & ferry tickets. Once we finalised our holiday and paid we literally did nothing but turn up - Balkan Escape sorted everything, including checking us in for our flights. We received all paperwork and vouchers about 2 weeks before we flew so there was no stressing leading up to the holiday. Once on holiday, everything worked perfectly - transfers, car hire, ferry crossings. At all times the communication has been very efficient. I would highly recommend the company to anyone looking to go on holiday to Croatia and will definitely use them again.”

“Balkan acted quickly on our last minute (1 week) request for a holiday in Croatia and proposed all the travel arrangements within a few hours which, following some tweaking, was all fully booked within 24 hours. Fabulous service. Price was within our expectations and all travel arrangements worked perfectly with pick up/transfer service on time and friendly. Hotel 'Villa Pasis' in Rovinj turned out to be better than our expectations. Absolutely fabulous family run small hotel - 14 rooms. Rooms are large, modern, clean and well serviced with plenty of cupboard and drawer storage space. Great breakfast and evening meals available home cooked. Lovely pool with bar. Ok there is 1 mile walk to town centre but flat and plenty of bars on the way. 5 euros per day cycle hire from the hotel available if preferred. (as compared to 12 euros in town centre). Motor scooter hire also available. Best thing was the welcoming and fabulous friendly & helpful family service. We can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Rovinj is a lovely coastal town with much to do including great value boat trips and there are many things to see on the Istrian peninsular (via car hire is the cheapest option). We had a perfect 11 day holiday and very pleased with the hotel and travel/transfer arrangements made by Balkan Escape. We would definitely choose the agency again & unhesitatingly recommend to family & friends”

The information provided prior to and during our trip was excellent. We stayed in three different places and the transfers between each of them and the airport were faultless. The hotel in Ljubljana was outstanding. The hotels in Lake Bohinj and Portoroz were a little dated and had minor issues such as poor or no air conditioning, bathroom towels poor quality, no tea and coffee in the rooms and also excessive charge at the hotel in Portoroz for the use of sun loungers but the location of both was excellent.”

“Well done Balkan Escapes, everything was as expected or better. The transfers were all on time to the minute. The cross-border transfer from Croatia to Montenegro was particularly efficient as the driver took on the less-used coast road where there was no queue. Both hotels were very good, just what we wanted, and before we confirmed our selection of hotels we were given enough information to do due diligence and make an informed selection. What could be improved? I should have asked about seat selection and special baggage when I first booked as I ended up paying Easy Jet quite a lot of money when I added it to the flight. That was my oversight though, not that of Balkan Escapes. I would thoroughly recommend Balkan Escapes, it all worked so well.”

Balkan escapes suggested Splendida in Split. Obviously it’s a very different offering but it was very clean , in a great location and the staff were absolutely lovely.”

“This was our first experience of using Balkan Escape and have been very impressed with the service. From initial enquiry to putting the holiday together. Even the last minute change of hotel on our final leg was dealt with promptly. All transfers were prompt and helpful taxi drivers. Our only comment relates to our hotel at Lake Bled which appeared a little tired and the air conditioning in our room was broken, fortunately the weather was not too hot during our stay. We would certainly book through you again.”
