“Not very happy I ordered 2 full bags approx 1500 kg the bags weren't full at all so I ordered the same weight from another company for less and the bag was full to the brim and much wider. For 2 of your bags was one of theirs and their bag was cheaper.”

“Ordered sand mix Friday afternoon as needed for that day or Saturday morning. Once payment went through was messaged for free pick up from Monday onwards?”

“Online ordering was easy and efficiently acknowledged. Notified of delivery day and by 1700. By 1600 no delivery so contacted local depot to confirm and was reassured consignment was on the van to be delivered as scheduled. How ever delivery was not made and I received no communication to explain why or when delivery would take place. I emailed head office and received a phone call from local depot first thing the following morning. Staff and delivery man were polite and friendly but overall service was disappointing.”

“I'm generally very happy with AWBS, good products, good prices, good website for online ordering. However on this occasion the delivery service seemed a bit chaotic compared to previous orders. In the past AWBS have generally delivered the next day before lunch, often around 9am. On this occasion I received a message that the entire order would be delivered in three day's time because one small item was out of stock. When I phoned up to cancel the small item they said that it had "just come back in stock" so they would deliver the next day after all. However they couldn't guarantee any time and in the end they didn't turn up until nearly 4pm. Maybe this is due to difficulty recruiting HGV drivers (?) but I hope they can get back to the previous high standards of service, or else start to offer approximate time of delivery.....”

Hi Rob, thank you for your review. We offer a free local delivery service and our vehicles are allocated deliveries on a multi-drop basis therefore it is impossible to give any guarantees of the time a delivery may arrive on a set day. Our deliveries are scheduled between 8am - 5pm. We understand this can be frustrating however as past experience has taught us if we were to give customers timed deliveries this can lead to further problems as often things can change throughout the day, therefore we have made it a strict company policy that we do not give times for our deliveries on the allocated day. “Im only giving you 3 stars rather than 5 because, despite giving clear instructions including the gate code to my electric gates, you have dropped 2/3 bags out on the pavement outside the house which means I have to load all the shingle an extra 10metres - I dont understand why?”

“A bit disappointed with the condition of 6 of the blocks as were chipped. Luckily ordered a few more than needed for the purpose Delivery time excellent as normal.”

“The service , communication and delivery are excellent. Unfortunately; on this occasion the product purchased (turf) has been very disappointing and has already died within 4 weeks .”

Hi Deborah, sorry to hear you’ve had an issue with your turf. All of our turf comes directly from Rolawn, the UK’s largest supplier. Had we known of your issue prior to your review we would have been able to contact them, send photographs and get their advice as to what happened to cause this issue and, if possible, try and rectify it. “Happy with the product and the delivery all spot on as usual for AWBS. The delivery driver was brilliant. I do have concerns over the payment though as there was a data breach and my Card details could know be in the hands of fraudsters.”

“Product was good, shame our card was compromised by your site. Have had to deal with fraudulent payments and stop cards therefore without cards for a week, very inconvenient”

Hi Shaun, First, we would like to say how sorry we are that you have been affected by the recent data breach on the AWBS website and apologise for the distress and inconvenience this will have undoubtably caused you. Please be assured that we take customer and online security very seriously. As soon as we identified the data breach we contacted customers immediately, the police and Information Commissioners Office (ICO) were informed and a thorough investigation was carried out by our website security team. Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic online fraud has risen by 65% and it is a serious problem for every online retailer but in no way does this excuse the issue that has affected you on this occasion. “When I first called the office, the chap I spoke to was not helpful at all and very dismissive. If I could have bought the pavestones elsewhere I would have done, but unfortunately I could not find them anywhere else in the time frame I needed. Think it was the Oxford office that I called initially - I then called one of the other offices and totally different experience - really friendly and helpful chap - sadly I had to deal with the Oxford office for the order - Also we have 4 or 5 broken slabs - I emailed about this but no response - called Oxford office, not terribly helpful, just said it was to be expected and if we really need them replaced the process would take weeks by the sound of it to have them replaced - considering I spent nearly £3000 with this company I would have expected better - At least the pavestones look great now most of them have been laid”

“I have had Rowlan turf from AWBS before and it is good, but I collected it myself last time. This time I asked for delivery. Although I was told a day for delivery, when I asked for an approximate time I got a very poor and abrupt response and told they never give out a time "we are builders merchants not couriers". Politeness would have been nice, even if they could not let me know of a time. Stayed in all day only for it to arrive at 4:30 from a courteous driver, thankfully. AWBS have two offices close by - do NOT deal with the Oxford office. Yarnton is much more pleasant and personable.”

“I always use AWBS but... Ordered Rugby cement, and cheaper mannock cement delivered..... Excuse about not available in our areas, so why can it be ordered and accepted on the website? Price difference was not automatically adjusted, or an apology. Had to complain.. Its not the money £2.88 But the principle, rip off will now make me look elsewhere for future orders.. Felt like a scam. How many £2.88 are not questioned?”

“Good products. Delivery no so much. No delivery alert by email or text, no knock on the door by driver. Happened to see wagon and went to check the delivery to find one product short but delivery note ticked to say everything was dropped off. Oh, and a nut and bolt missing. Could have been 5 stars!!!”
