“Great way of transferring large and smaller amounts of currency without having to pay ridiculous bank fees. Using a forward contract gave us certainty about the rate of exchange and therefore the cost which massively reduced our stress levels when buying abroad. I was impressed with the attention to security and double checking of account numbers etc.”

“This was an excellent service , all email and telephone enquiries were answered quickly and efficiently. It can be daunting handing over large sums of your hard earned cash but we felt very confident that A Place in the Sun currency were looking after our needs. Their exchange rates were competitive and they provide useful advice along the way, through their news feed and updates. We would recommend and will definitely use the service in the future. “Ashley was very helpful and easy to deal with and the transfers to our Spanish bank account went through without a hitch. I only wish that I had known that Barclays took commission in addition to that of A Place in the Sun Currency’s. I couldn’t understand why my limit order wasn’t filled when the exchange rate went up to more than my Limit Order rate plus what I thought the commission was. By the time I picked the phone up the following day the exchange rate had dropped and I ended up about 1,500€ worse off.”

“I was very pleased with the service that Ashley provided for me. It was important that he clarified any costs and the alternatives open to me when buying currency for house purchase in Spain. When I rang up I was able to speak to Ashley or a colleague if he was unavailable.”

“The transfer was quick and in my account as expected. I received a transfer receipt to confirm the transaction. The service could be improved if the transfer receipt confirmed the amount of sterling being transferred, the exchange rate applied to the transfer, details of a fee, if applicable and the amount to be received in the overseas bank account. At the moment, the transfer receipt only confirms the amount to be received in the overseas bank account.”

Thank you for the review - we always send a clear confirmation of individual orders, including exchange rate and charges agreed, but for our automated regular transfers the margin and any charges would have been agreed at the outset so we do not send these through with each regular payment. We can send current or historic transaction rates and charges on request at any time, as our service is designed to always be transparent and good value.
