“We have been very pleased with Allcott Associates. We appointed them to carry out a survey and provide structural calculations for a new steel. From the initial enquiry through to aftercare we have found the whole team to be responsive, professional and approachable. We are currently working with our builder to finalise the details and David still makes time to offer us advice, several months after the original survey. This is very reassuring when dealing with aspects of construction with which you are not particularly familiar. I feel they want the job to get done right. Would recommend.”

“We found the survey produced by Allcott Asscoiates was very thorough and helpful for the period property we were hoping to buy. We were able to email with our surveyor to ask additional questions which gave us a number of items to investigate further. It led us to have a further inspection for Asbestos which did test positive in an area, although not where we had originally suspected. We were happy with the content, quality and cost of the survey and would definitely use Allcott Associates in the future.”

“Fantastic Level 3 Survey. The level of detail they included was second to none and I really appreciated the estimated costs for relevant work needed as I know not all surveyors will included this. The accompanying pictures were also generous so I could easily follow what was written. When it's time for me to by another property, I'll be sure to use their services again.”

“Not very impressed. I called the office to determine which survey I required for a renovated property (essentially a new build) & was advised "A level 3, always a full structural survey." (being the most expensive). Judging by the information that came back I was probably just as well having a Snagging Survey. It was when looking at a photograph which was clearly an extractor fan in the bathroom and the information said and I quote ' The ceiling includes a ceiling mains powered smoke detector which appeared to be functioning, however was not smoke tested at the time of inspection' I had to question the credibility of anything in the report. When I queried it I was told it was a typo error. Yes people make mistakes but for £1050 am I not permitted to think that a useful & valuable service will be provided!”

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you feel disappointed with the service, and I will address the points you have raised directly. In relation to the survey recommendation, our default position is to advise a Level 3 survey where a client is unsure, as it provides the most comprehensive assessment and reduces the risk of unknowns. In this instance, the property is a 19th century building which has been recently refurbished to a good standard. As a result, there were no significant defects identified at the time of inspection, and the report therefore contains more commentary than defect driven recommendations. That reflects the actual condition of the property on the day, rather than a limitation of the survey itself. With regard to the comment in the report referring to a smoke detector, this was a admin error, and we acknowledged that when you raised it. That should not have been included in that context. However, this does not undermine the technical integrity of the inspection. The report is based on a full inspection by a qualified surveyor, and the findings are not derived from photographs alone. The error relates to wording, not the underlying assessment. That said, quality control matters. For a professional fee, you are entitled to expect a polished and accurate document, and on this occasion the proofing fell short of our usual standard. That is on us, and we have addressed this internally to avoid repetition.
