“I ordered 4 x 15mm Oak Dowels to make handles for a chest of drawers. The quality of the wood was exceptional, beautiful colour and grain and perfectly cut and finished. The only problem was the EXCESSIVE charge for shipping and handling - 5 times the cost of the items ordered!! Hence the 3 stars review. But unfortunately I couldn't buy them locally. G&S use FedEx for delivery, they're efficient but very expensive. I think they should have a much lower shipping charge, or use a cheaper delivery service, for small domestic orders. As a keen DIYer I like the products they offer but as a pensioner I doubt I will be buying from them again.”

“G&S Specialist Timber is a very professional and accommodating company. Matt B went above and beyond to make sure I was able to receive my Pfeil Woodcarving Tools that I ordered in a timely fashion. I highly recommend them and will use them for any future purchases without hesitation. Might I add I live in the United States and the package was well wrapped and arrived in perfect condition. “This was my first order from this company. It arrived within 24 hours and was very carefully wrapped. My Xmas presents don't look as good as my parcel did when I am done wrapping them. Between order and delivery I received 11 email updates from G & S and FedEx. I felt as though I knew where my dowel was every inch throughout every inch of its journey. Definitely my new go-to place for all things wood.”

“Placed my order for 35mm diameter Tulipwood & Limewood dowel at around 1:30pm on a Thursday. It was delivered before 8am the next day. Now that’s great service. Quality of the dowel is really good. I cut it into 10mm pieces & used it for spots on large dominos. Will definitely use again.”
