“Hi Garry, Shaun and the G&S Team I previously acquired dowls from Plugit Wood, but they were not suitable for my new project. I needed them to be 9.5mm X 1000mm straight with a consistent OD, this was not the case, and I therefor contacted your company in the hope of acquiring suitable dowels for my project. The 1M dowels I received from your company was not straight and the OD varied between 9,34mm and 9,45mm. The 500mm dowels were much straighter but the OD once again were not consistent. The below statement from your website encouraged me to try your Ash dowels “Each ash dowel is turned from a single piece of premium hardwood and sanded to a smooth finish. Manufactured with a strict tolerance of ±0.4mm,” It appears that it is not possible to produce straight wooden dowls of 1000mm X 9.5mm I will have to explore using Carbon Fibre Rods instead for my project. Good afternoon, Thank you for your review. we are sorry the dowels are not straight enough for your application. If you can please send us some images to review this for you. As stated in your review the tolerance on the diameter is + or - 0.4mm to allow for variation. If you would prefer you can also return the dowels for a full refund. Kind regards G&S

“G&S always provide high quality kiln dried lime which I use for wood carving. Carving is time consuming so you don’t want to waste time on timber which has hidden defects.”

“I have bought various timbers at G & S including oak planed all round and oak dowels. The would is perfect and planed all round and has saved me time etc cutting and milling the timbers. Good morning, Thank you for your review, We have more of these on order and all being well should arrive in a couple of weeks time. Because they are a popular tool and they are ordered from Switzerland when retailers get them they generally sell quickly and it would always be another 2 / 3 weeks before more arrive. Matt
