Simone is a great teacher ! I've learnt so much more from him in the last few of months than I have in the last couple years. I'm finally beginning to understand the guitar. My timing and has improved immensely making what I play sound much much better. He has provided me with the confidence to achieve things on the guitar didn't think I could manage especially improvising on the guitar. Friendly, fun lessons and is willing to answer any questions outside of the lesson which is a great help when practising. You leave the lesson wanting to get back home as soon as possible to practise. The academy website makes accessing all lesson notes extremely convenient and their online lessons are an awesome way to learn more outside of the private lessons, with different styles play of which makes learning new sounds enjoyable and easy. Great job guys really ! Thanks !!! VM

Thanks Vikram! It's great to hear you are really finding your confidence on the guitar. It's also great to hear that you are enjoying the web based content as well... between that and the high quality of Simone's lessons you'll achieve your goals in no time!

Great teacher. Website needs a bit of work on being able to find lessons more easily and pull up both soundtrack and notes at the same time. Cheers!

Haha! Yep, couldn't agree more that Gonsalo is an incredible tutor! He'll love this review :)

Tom Thistleton is a great instructor. In spite of the substantial age gap (me being older), he totally relates to the music that interests me and always tailors my lessons to make them as enjoyable as possible. He is encouraging, patient and helpful & I have no hesitation in recommending both guitar academy & my tutor.

Simone is cooler than all who pass before him, but he's too cool to acknowledge it, even to himself. His instructions are crystal clear and perfectly methodical. Instead of 'things you need to know,' he teaches patterns--almost in a mathematical way, if that makes sense--while also instilling a sense of soul. He's patient yet on task. Certain yet open. Professional yet playful. He's the guy we like to think we all are, but he actually is. My wife and I can't wait for our joint lesson with him tomorrow.

Been taking YGa’s pro courses online for a couple of months now, and I’ve really been enjoying them. Everything’s presented really clearly and the tutor in the videos does a great job of explaining everything. Really love picking up my guitar every day now, would recommend these courses to anyone especially beginners like me!

I’ve been taking classes with Olly for some 18 months now and they’ve proved hugely beneficial. I’d had weekly lessons with other teachers for a couple of years in the past, but the classes with Olly really are at quite a different level. Olly’s background as formally-trained music graduate means that he has a thorough knowledge of the theoretical and academic dimensions of music. That’s matched by great practical know-how as he’s also an active music professional regularly performing and recording across the UK. That really makes a difference, meaning that Olly brings a formidable level of expertise to his classes which really benefits the student. What’s been especially noteworthy is Olly’s capacity to adapt the curriculum and style of delivery to meet the student’s needs. In my case, that meant addressing some really deep seated problems with technique. Olly’s response has been to use an almost forensic analysis of the movements used in fretting and picking to identify and remove barriers to faster and more accurate playing. That’s been complemented by a very holistic approach to the whole philosophy of study and practice that has really helped. We’ve used engaging and challenging material by artists like Steve Vai and Paul Gilbert as study pieces and that’s made the whole process enormously rewarding and enjoyable for me. Olly’s complemented the face-to-face classes with great homework packages including books, videos, and other material that makes for a balanced and well-rounded approach to learning. I think it’ll still take quite a while yet to get to the level I’d really like to be at, but with Olly’s approach there’s now a real sense that the material I want to play is finally coming within reach. Highly recommended.

Thanks for that Mark! It's amazing to hear you are tackling Steve Vai and Paul Gilbert pieces... nice work! As you said, Ollie is definitely the man to get you to where you want to be, just keep up the practice!

Absolutely loving my guitar lessons with Dan (Brighton YGA). I've had about 15 lessons so far and am already starting to notice lots of progress (from complete beginner). The lessons are well structured and the online dashboard for your lessons works perfectly for me, meaning I can re-visit previous lessons at any point. He's constantly encouraging me and is incredibly patient. I chose to have lessons from home and this fits perfectly for me around Uni/work. I'm glad I decided to take lessons, worth every penny.

Superb! You were one of our first students through the door of YGA in London Tim so it's great to hear you are really enjoying the lessons and have improved so much! Bryn is an awesome tutor, as I'm sure you'll agree, so stick with it and you'll be a pro in no time!

Bryn is always thorough when describing techniques, he does not let anything slip e.g. my alternate picking. He's very encouraging and is always helpful when I don't get it. He is a very good teacher and my playing has developed significantly since being tutored by him.

Thanks Joshua! Glad to hear Bryn is picking up on your alternate picking (no pun intended!). This is one of those areas of technique that is tricky to correct, but will massively improve your playing in all areas, so great to hear you are dealing with it now!

I'm having a great time learning the guitar with Bryn.he is very patient with me.and he is very encouraging, despite my slow progress (which is down to me)learning the guitar is harder than I expected, but I'm determined to stick with it.

Do stick with it Derek! Nobody said learning the guitar would be easy, but you are in the right place to ensure you will get there in the end! Bryn is an excellent teacher and knows how to take the most complicated of tasks and break it down to a manageable level, so stick with him and you'll get there. Good luck!

Really enjoying my lessons with Pete. He's a great guy and very encouraging. Slowly but surely he's turning me into something approaching a decent guitarist, which anyone who knows me would tell you is some achievement! Highly recommended.

Thanks Andy! It's awesome to hear that Pete is turning you into a 'decent' guitar player! I'm sure you are under-selling yourself, but still good to hear! Good luck with the lessons in the future.

My daughter started with Kiall as her guitar tutor a few weeks ago. She has been progressing slowly but surely. I have sat outside the room waiting for the lesson to finish and I must say that Kiall, is extremely good in motivating and encouraging her. I have had to rearrange the lesson and cancel the lessons on a couple of occasions and Kiall has been very accommodating. Very impressed!

Bring given great tips to get on and continue learning the guitar, I was a complete beginner, but now I know chords and can play some music all in a short space of time. The guitar academy has allowed me to learn at my own pace.

Thanks Michael! Yes learning at your own pace is important, and Bryn is excellent at tuning into how much / little to give a student to work on each week so that you are still excited and confident about what you are learning. You're in safe hands with Bryn!

Thanks Richard! Glad you are enjoying lessons with Tom and great to hear you are just settling into your second block. It's really cool to hear that Tom is approaching the guitar from every angle and even getting you learning how to get the best sound from the gear you use, that's amazing! Keep jamming away!

I enjoy a lot my guitar lessons. First because I think that Jay is a very good teacher, second because he is a very good guitar player and I like the way he plays and third because he adapted very well the lessons to what I needed and the kind of music I wanted to play. Also the lessons are very well balanced in between exercices and music pieces.

Yep, Jay is the man! We do have structured course material, but all of our tutors are hired because they can really bring the material to life for each individual student. It sounds as though Jay has managed exactly that for you! All the best.

The teacher Kiall is excellent. Very personable, willing to listen to what my son is interested in and a lively, interesting teacher. Each week he brings something new and enjoyable for my son to practise to keep things fresh. Although has has not been teaching my son for very long yet,, I have every confidence that they will build a good, strong teacher-pupil relationship and that my son will make very good progress in a supportive and fun environment,
