Well here is my story. I have been playing guitar for a few decades now. Used to play in a band many, many years ago. I was a very strong rhythm played, but just could never master leads. I wanted to, so bad. My hero's were BB King, SRV, Jimmy Page, Gary Moore, David Gilmore. I wanted to make my guitar sing and cry like these men did. Just never managed. So I sold my electric after the band ended and have been playing acoustic ever since. Well, two weeks ago I decided to once again, after 20 years, to buy an electric guitar. My goal was just to play similar music to what I have always played, just a different guitar. Then I discovered YGA. Wow! I can actually play BB King style leads now! Finally after all these years to be able to play like one of my heros. And this is just the beginning! So totally recommended by myself! This video is the first lesson. Able to get it in a day due to the clear instructions.

I have tried a few subscription guitar sites and yourguitaracademy is the best in my opinion. The instructors are really engaging and the lessons interesting. So far I have completed some of the the theory labs and blues courses (Dan), improvisation (Thomas) and Metal (Dion) and found them all to be excellent. I am an (almost) intermediate player that had plateau'd and I needed some instruction to break the cycle. YGA has definitely done this for me and I look forward to devouring the rest of the lessons. If you are stuck in a rut then you won't regret subscribing!

Of all the many on-line guitar courses available, YGA is by far the most comprehensive and well-presented. All the tutors are very skilled and capable musicians with great enthusiasm for their art and willingness to see others improve and enjoy the excitement of the guitar in its many forms and styles. The commitment they have to their pupils is unparalleled, and with YGA the only way is up. Cost of membership is very low considering the product.

I've been a member for a few months now, and I can highly recommend YGA. First of all, you will get a pathway based on what you would like to learn as a guitar player, which is tailored to you. Inside this pathway, you will find different video lessons with text, music, tabs etc. These are all of great production quality and the tutors are very good at explaining and teaching. And you will not only learn the different patterns, techniques etc., but also where to use them and when. Every time you sit down to practice/play you will know exactly what to work on because of this pathway, but if you sometimes would like to do something else there are plenty of great player studies, different "short" technique/skills courses and so on. You will also have the opportunity to post progress videos of yourself along the way if you like, and the tutors will give you feedback on your playing which is very helpful.

I've been half playing the guitar for years now by just bashing out some chords here and there but have never really focused on learning properly. The lessons and learning path with YGA is absolutely fantastic and I'm making real progress. There's a huge range for all levels as well. Couldn't recommend them more, plus there is a great little community to join as a member as well.

Blues Jam day was a great opportunity to play with other guitarists . Although I regularly play with friends in a band , it was still very valuable for me to play with different people having different approaches to soloing . Dan is super friendly and made us feel very confortable to just "go for it" at what ever level eah of us were at. And I left with concrete steps for improving as a guitarist. Great fun.

Daniele has taught my 13 year old daughter to play the Ukulele. She had no previous music experience but he has given her the confidence to practice, improve and play some songs. I can't praise his enthusiasm enough, he is a delightful and supportive teacher.

Connor is an exceptional guitar teacher. He is personable, knowledgeable and accommodating. He has really made a difference with our 6 year old son already - even after just a few lessons. I really like the way the homework is clearly set out online too.

Alex Barron is an intuitive, calm, supportive teacher, who has the expertise to set me tasks that are enjoyable but also challenge me. His advice is encouraging and I learn a huge amount during our weekly hour-long session. By the end of the first lesson I was playing a Stereophonics song. My ego was inflated beyond belief. I walked home with my guitar case on my back. People looked at me differently. I was now a musician. Subsequent lessons involved more guitar chords, Mnemonic Acronyms so that I could remember the order of the guitar strings EBG DAE, finger positioning; moving through more songs onto more difficult things like barre cords. Alex moves at my pace. He can instantly judge if I’m struggling with something and always finds an alternative solution so that I can learn and retain the information. My takeaway tasks involve, consolidating what I have learned and, also, a hint of what’s coming next. I really look forward to my lesson with Alex. He's a top talent and I look forward to receiving more tuition from the Jedi Master of guitar.

Dan has been fantastic, my son started to lose interest with his guitar but since we found Dan he’s not stopped playing and practicing. Dan has zoned in on what my son likes to play. Great experience for us both. Thanks Dan

These lessons have been fantastic. Dan is an excellent guitarist and teacher who has helped me develop a strong knowledge of music theory and a raft of skills in jazz guitar. I approached Your Guitar Academy as an 'advanced' guitarist who nonetheless sorely needed to break out of a rather deep rut to acquire the ability and confidence to play jazz guitar. The knowledge, techniques and reassurance that I have received over these lessons have been superb. I highly recommend Your Guitar Academy.

First of all the process was very easy to join, the offer of a £10 trial lesson was the clincher. My tutor is Ryan Bissett who in my opinion is fantastic, he was very personable upon first meeting him also, very patient & understanding. Ryan moves you along effortlessly and constantly challenges you to do more. I am very happy with my progress and will be committing myself to another block of 10 lessons today. Thanks to YGA for the platform to learn & a huge thanks to Ryan Bissett for the ongoing help & support. Jimmy Jumaye

Before starting tuition, I had a conversation with my tutor (Matt Lockyer), where he asked me what I wanted to get from lessons. After my first few lessons I could tell that he had taken the time to really consider what I had said and had constructed lesson plans that were exactly on the right track. I predominantly asked to be taught the theory, with a goal of knowing the fretboard like it was a part of my body, able to jam with ease, and know where I was musically when playing... He also asked me what kind of stuff I liked to play, so I reeled off a few bands, what I liked etc... Come the next lesson he'd learnt one of the songs I'd mentioned and figured out how it applied to the theory we were learning, and the other areas of theory that the particular song explored. This has really helped me engage with the lessons, and has made learning the theory really exciting. The lessons are definitely bespoke, and you can clearly notice your own progression. Matt's very personable, and delivers the lessons at a professional level in a relaxed friendly way. For me this makes the lessons really enjoyable, worthwhile and fantastic value.

What a great experience. From the first second I met the team at My Guitar Academy, I knew it was going to be a great experience. They were all very friendly and accommodating, while understanding that I wanted to improve on the guitar. They were patient and I never felt rushed or under pressure to learn something that I thought was out of my capabilities. I couldn't recommend these guys enough, and I'll definitely be going back for some refreshers sessions or just to have a jam with the guys!
