About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Halo Maesteg has got a good variety of equipment but can't compete with the likes of high-street Gym brands. When it gets busy, it's quite hard to finish the workout in decent time. I wish there was more equipment to fill the free space above reception. Maybe more bench presses and more leg workouts. I really do miss the old LAT pull down... Staff are always friendly and supportive, and there are a good range of classes. What makes the membership worth it, is the use of the pool and sauna facilities. However, I wish that the showers are non-communial, and to have seperate stalls. I believe that the showers in Halo are very old fashioned where mixing with others was the norm. Now, I think it's time to upgrade where there are 4-5 seperate shows with doors and a place to put clothes for easier access. This is also the same for the lockers in Maesteg swimming pool. There needs to be an upgrade as they are very small, and will only fit a small bag inside. Yes, I can see they have put locks on them for better safety, but It's time to put the customer first and improve these.”

“Great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Particularly like the badminton club and hire,and exercise classes. Would like more variety of times for classes and clarity of how different exercises help and potential risks. Should cost less for badminton if a member or even included in membership.”

“Excellent customer service from Jayne at the desk this morning, Firstly rang the stadium for information regarding soft play, shock/horror lol when Jayne answered phone to me within seconds, never experienced this quick response to me phoning any other organisations in my life, was preparing myself for the you are 2nd in queue then waiting 10 minutes. Anyway Jayne answered my queries prompt and professionally. When arriving then at Stadium 1 hour later, I mentioned I had rang and it was Jayne on desk. ( only found out her name when meeting for first time at desk) I would like to say what a credit and nice person Jayne is to be fronting your reception desk, This is honestly the first time I ever gave a review to anyone lol, but I was just blown away how Jayne treated the customer and how helpful, polite and how nice she was dealing with my enquires from start to finish, a total credit to Halo leisure. Will be back to use this leisure centre again. Great Staff all round.”
