About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“We are so lucky to have this pool in Tenbury, there are adequate sessions to choose from, and the staff are great The only thing that needs improving, is the cleaning, which seems never to get sorted. The drain covers in particular needs sorting, and schools need to be asked to check they leave the loos and changing rooms tidy and clean after their visit. Cleanliness is the only thing that stops me wholeheartedly recommending the pool to anyone else, which is a shame because it is a wonderful facility”

“Dirty grubby softplay. Clearly hadn't been cleaned at all over the weekend, bits of dust, hair and food everywhere. Disgusting I have photos of the state of it but your system wont allow me to upload them. Keeps saying error.”

“Not as it use to be changing rooms where dirty friendly atmosphere has gone not like it was back 2 years ago now go to pyle and pencoed alot more friendly staff and pools are much better”

“Halo Maesteg has got a good variety of equipment but can't compete with the likes of high-street Gym brands. When it gets busy, it's quite hard to finish the workout in decent time. I wish there was more equipment to fill the free space above reception. Maybe more bench presses and more leg workouts. I really do miss the old LAT pull down... Staff are always friendly and supportive, and there are a good range of classes. What makes the membership worth it, is the use of the pool and sauna facilities. However, I wish that the showers are non-communial, and to have seperate stalls. I believe that the showers in Halo are very old fashioned where mixing with others was the norm. Now, I think it's time to upgrade where there are 4-5 seperate shows with doors and a place to put clothes for easier access. This is also the same for the lockers in Maesteg swimming pool. There needs to be an upgrade as they are very small, and will only fit a small bag inside. Yes, I can see they have put locks on them for better safety, but It's time to put the customer first and improve these.”
