About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“A good local centre. The indoor circuits class is brilliant. The instructor, Darren is supportive, cheerful and encouraging. Ideal for a.74 year old trying to get fit.”

“Not the best facilities. Changing rooms aren’t very nice. There are not enough swimming slots for adults who are not as confident in swimming but don’t want to be around children in the social swim.”

“Changing rooms need updating, in a poor state. No family rooms, people walk in and can head to men’s changing rooms direct or via health suite entrance, witnessed this two weeks ago someone looking for their child’s card (child wasn’t with him) walked into changing room where boys were changing for lessons, totally inappropriate & unchallenged. Leave children vulnerable. Gym area needs updating. Staff always helpful.”

“Good range of fitness classes. Engaging instructors for the classes I attend. Would like to see more strength and flexibility classes. Also a greater range of yoga classes mid week daytime.”

“Staff are always pleasant and helpful. The changing rooms and showers are clean. The lockers have seen better days, needs an upgrade. The gym lack leg strengthening exercise machines- leg curls- leg presses- leg extensions.”

“Excellent Halo-run swimming pool in Leominster. The staff, with highly efficient managers, are always friendly and helpful and it would be hard to imagine a better place to swim.”

“Nice centre always friendly. Only issue is weights equipment is predominantly focused on upper body excercise. More leg equipment would be nice, a hip abductor machine is wanted by a number of the female clientele.”
