About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Repairs in changing rooms and toilets take about a year to be sorted. Due to expansion of houses in Ledbury the chance of getting into Pilates or Aquafit is a nightmare. Holidays & sickness of instructors in these classes have no replacements and since I pay yearly there is no financial refunds.”

Dear Kamella, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback about Halo. We truly appreciate it! 🌟 regarding the shower door, we understand the frustration and agree it has been way too long but great news we have the door here on site, now waiting for our technical team to fit it. This time of year is always tricky regarding employees' annual leave, we have to use it or lose it before the end of the year staff are rightly so booking time off. Not all our staff are qualified to cover every class so at times we do have to cancel sessions. We do our very best to minimise this. Your annual membership isn't just a group exercise membership so unfortunately halo won't offer any discounts as your membership includes public swimming and the gym as an alternative to group exercise classes. Thank you for your comments and we appreciate your comments on the staff being nice. Obviously we are disappointed with the 1 star review as we are in a listed building and have had investment in the gym which is now spread over 3 rooms with new uptodate equipment and we have also had a conversion of a squash court for a soft play area. We are also having new spinning bikes this September If you could let us know what facilities are lacking and also what facilities you like that would be great. Kind regards Maesteg Staffing Team

“Friendly staff, excellent water quality and changing rooms generally clean Great to see lots of families with young children having fun in the leisure pool.Dedicated and experienced lifeguards and teaching staff. “Overall satisfied with facilities but managed to pick up an ear infection from swimming somehow, which has stopped me swimming for over 3 months. Pilates sessions are great but difficult to book though.”

Hi John Thank you for your recent 4 star review. The Pilates classes are very popular and are always full. It's difficult to be fair to all users who want to attend but we appreciate this doesn't always happen. We are sorry to hear that you have had an ear infection. If you suffer from water in the ear regularly, you can purchase ear plugs or wear a swimming hat which may help with the issue in the future. It can also of course be caused by another illnesses. “I love the pool but I hate how crowded it can get! Then that puts me off going and swimming is the only thing I can really do with my back. Maybe some quiet nights would help…”

“I value the fact that we have this excellent facility on our doorstep. I am on the waiting list for a knee replacement and I feel that going to aquafit helps me to move around better than I would otherwise do, although my mobility needs improvement. I have met lots of really nice helpful people.”

“Need more varied lessons very samie the instructor not utilised I've been coming for many years and I'd say standards have dropped a lot not the instructors need to use them better . Also why not bring sauna steam room ect to the center hot tub even I would pay more to be member and I'm sure most wood ?”
