About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“At Ynysawdre the staff are fabulous! The upstairs Gym is great! The upstairs showers are brilliant! I do not swim but people say the pool is great! The only negative thing I have to say about Ynysawdre (& to me it's a big negative) is there's no sauna facilities! I do like going there to train! Thanks ❤ 😊”

“The gym is very limited to variations and amount of machines. Especially considering how many people use the gym in the evenings. Also, the weights room isnt very well looked after. The plates are scattered across the gym with no organisation.”

“The mosy important thing to me is the hygiene and cleanliness of the facility. As a pinlic pool l'm always impressed by the high standard of cleanliness to other pools. The staff are always very polite and helpfull.”

“The facilities are good and the staff on reception are always friendly and helpful - but I joined specifically for the classes. There need to be more classes made available. There seem to be no classes at weekends. Also the quality of teaching varies enormously. Some of it is very poor. I have cancelled my membership after just a couple of months.”

“Halo is a very good centre but feel that when a teacher(s) are off due to very sad circumstances that your centre should have a backup. Whilst Julie Lawrence covers the stretch and yoga. The water aerobics has had to be cancelled. I feel that the amount of staff you have that courses should be compulsory for the young members in order to have a back.”

“The gym is small but has a reasonable selection of equipment. The classes are varied and led by good instructors who are encouraging to all ages and abilities. Marcus is a enthusiastic, friendly manager. It's a good space for non fitness use too. It's used by the food bank, Lloyds bank(once a week as no banks in bromyard). The library has decent books and a couple of computers for those who don't have internet access. There are local netball and children's football teams based there. Bromyard would be lost without it”

“Family pool not open during the day of school holidays but halo found time to open for swimming lessons in the evening shame on you and the local council there are children out there who would love to go swimming but their parents can’t afford lessons”

Hi Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the availability of the family pool during school holidays. We understand your frustration and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. Our goal is to provide access to our facilities for all members of the community. While we do offer swimming lessons in the evenings to help children develop essential skills, we recognize the importance of making the pool accessible for recreational use during school holidays. We currently offer family swims on a Monday - Wednesday 12.30-1.15pm throughout the children holidays, also a free swim for families on a Friday 4pm-4.45pm We also encourage all customers to check our website and social media channels for updates on pool availability and any special family swim sessions.
