About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I only use the swimming pool. Facilities are always working, clean and mostly sufficient. Available changing room lockers are sometimes hard to find at busy periods. Pool use plan is well structured.”

“I attend a weekly exercise (which is excellent) and use the gym from time to time. It has a good range of equipment and I was given good advice on a personal fitness programme. The staff are always helpful and friendly.”

“As before and no real improvement Food /cafe not great . No hot food , no after school activities so kids cant enjoy our amazing pool , cant access the cafe from park without walking all the way around the long way , unless you catch someone walking out of the door by the cafe . No spa still The gym is amazing and classes , but would love to be able to go and make a day of spa, gym, swim , food . But lacking this I’m afraid . So I’ve now gone back to wye leisure so as a family we can enjoy all the above . It’s a pity halo can’t see the opportunity they could have being more family friendly . Will continue to use the gym and classes as convenient . But wish we could enjoy our hometown pool more . But every time I bring kids on weeks the baby pool gets closed ( lack of staff) and you shut at 3 ( Lack of staff) and the kids that run the whizzles in the pool are over whizzle happy and blow them every 3 mins”

We apologise again for the disappointment and frustration caused by the lack of hot food options, the closure of the spa, and the issues with the cafe and pool facilities. We appreciate your loyalty to our gym and classes, but we acknowledge that we have fallen short in providing a comprehensive experience for families. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the lack of after-school activities, and we understand that this has made it difficult for your children to enjoy our pool facilities. We are always looking into our options and timetables to offer activities for children during after school hours. Regarding the baby pool closures, we apologise for any inconvenience caused by staffing issues. We will look into ways to improve our staffing levels during peak periods but there are always times when there are staffing issues and sickness which are out of our control, I can ensure you any pool closures are the last resort for us. We also understand that the whistles in the pool can be overwhelming, and we will work on finding a balance between fun and safety. We're sorry to hear that you've decided to take your family's business elsewhere. We value our swimming pool and would like to continue to be a hub for family activities. We will take your feedback on board and work towards improving our services to make it a more enjoyable experience for families like yours. Once again, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. “Would get five stars but for the disgraceful state of the male changing rooms. Missing ceiling tiles - sometimes they're dumped in the showers. Walls defaced with graffiti. The class instructor and other staff are excellent.”

“At Ynysawdre the staff are fabulous! The upstairs Gym is great! The upstairs showers are brilliant! I do not swim but people say the pool is great! The only negative thing I have to say about Ynysawdre (& to me it's a big negative) is there's no sauna facilities! I do like going there to train! Thanks ❤ 😊”
