About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I go swimming at Leominster pool, it is a welcoming centre, lovely staff. The facilities in the pool area could do with some up-dating/repairs. I love the pool, it's simple, nice view of the trees and sky as you swim.”

“Halo is a great leisure centre with affordable membership & a variety of facilities. The staff are polite & friendly & the opening hours are also good. I would prefer if the Ledbury branch were open for longer (aka until 6pm earliest for example) on weekends as that is when people are most often free to workout but for the price of membership that isn't a major issue. I like how classes & gym slots can be booked & cancelled on the app. However, if the gym is shutting early it would be nice to be notified of this in advance, either by email or on the app.”

“Bridgend never ever answer the phone! The lifeguard in Pencoed Bethan I think she said her name was had to spend over an hour trying to book me in to Bridgend as the app was down. Its ridiculous to not have someone to answer the phone. Also the water is far too cold! Why has a children's pool that has babies in it become so cold? My daughters lips turn blue it's not good. Can this be addressed please? Thank you”

“I was a golf member, but had to cancel membership cause finding difficult to walk any distance, but hope to rejoin later. I always found the staff in reception very helpful and jolly always served you with a smile.”

“Really good gym. Locker situation is awful mind and amount of kids that are there jus to socialise hogging equipment can be off putting specially if your on a timescale Nd trying to get inn do what U got to do Nd go. Other excellent gym staff a great equipment great 👍”

Thank you for your comments and review. There are lockers provided in the men's and the family changing room for all to use. There are a few out which we are trying to source parts for. Our gym etiquette for users informs them if the gym is busy to limit their time to 20-30 minutes maximum. Some users do train together but we have instructors who are there to help and observe users to ensure correct usage of equipment and to ensure equipment is being used appropriately and in a timely manner. “I needed to get moving again after starting a fairly sedentary job. Not being focused (or fit) enough to take on regular disciplined gym sessions on my own I opted to go to one class a day. There is always a class I can book onto and if not the wait list really does work! Staff are helpful, knowledgeable and approachable and I have less aches and pains and already feel much stronger.”
