About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Equipment was broken and wasn’t repaired for long periods of time. Removed equipment that people wanted (exercise bikes). Over crowded gyms as Halo would sell day passes and didn’t cap how many people were in the gym. You’d be waiting for equipment to become available for long periods of time. Cancelled my membership and would not recommend.”

“The centre staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. The pool is lovely although a bit dated. The does often seem to be issues with showers not working (in particular the cold shower adjacent to the sauna). The steam room has unfortunately been out of action for months. Changing rooms are always very clean and the staff clearly work exceptionally hard.”

“Unfortunately, the facilities need to have a proper clean. It's sad to leave, but Bridgend Life Center is going downhill. The staff doesn't look enthusiastic; they're probably burned out.”

“I use the gym and the pool and attend fitness classes at the Halo Centre in Bridgend every week. Although the centre is well equipped its greatest asset is its staff. They are knowledgeable, encouraging and friendly. I am happy to be a member.”

“The gym has a nice amount of people in the mornings so it doesn’t get too busy. However the machines are often out of order especially the cable machines & everything is dusty, needs a good clean”

“Excellent staff and great facilities. Lovely pool with early morning fitness swim sessions. Easy to get to and easy to park. Great community feel to the centre.”

“Gym equipment is a bit beaten and worn though using fixed pretty quickly. Evenings can be very busy and can be hard to get on equipment at those time. Music can be too loud at times. Pool is very poor for swimming, and has an oily substance that costs the skin. Otherwise, facilities are generally clean and staff are usually helpful. All in all, it serves its purpose functionally.”

“Staff excellent, clean center My only issue is I like to walk in (no booking or time restrictions) as if I've booked and then can't make it it's a cost.”

“I attend Kington every week. The instructors are excellant and provide an entertaining and encouraging service. It would be good to have more diverse activities......but we are often forgotten out here in the 'sticks'.”

“A good range of facilities, for people of all ages and abilities. What would enhance the centre further would be to provide more affordable food and drink in the cafe (too expensive for me), and make it clearer from outside the building that the library is also co-located in the building.”

“Can't dive when u want... I don't have all day u know... And usually u can't use most of facility even it's not occupied... Really got disappointed”

Hi Gintarus, Thanks for your feeback Sorry to hear that your experience hasn't been altogether positive; diving is permitted in some sessions but not at busy times where others could be put at risk or in areas which are too shallow, making it an unsafe environment for that activity. I'm not sure what you mean regarding usage of most of the facility as we aim to keep most of our service areas open during busy periods. If an area is closed it is usually due to private hire such as schools or under usage for example, small pools during weekdays Always feel free to ask to speak to a Duty Manager if you're ever unhappy with anything, we are here to help and want our customers to leave satisfied with the service we provide.
