About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Clean and tidy, equipment well maintained, staff friendly and approachable, easy parking, plenty of facilities. Ideally, Cafe could open at 7:30 instead of 8 (same for leisure pool).”

“Very friendly staff Always greets you when you arrive at the centre Could be a bit cleaner also maybe more trained aqua staff and also during school holidays Thursday midday aqua class always cancelled. Can we not have class in main pool instead.”

Dear Mia,Thank you for taking the time to leave a 4-star rating for Halo. We truly appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear that you find our staff friendly and welcoming. We apologise for any cleanliness issues you may have encountered during your visits. We strive to maintain a clean and hygienic environment, and we will address this concern with our cleaning team to ensure improvement. Please do raise any issues with the on shift Manager during your visit and they will happily rectify. Regarding your suggestion for more trained aqua staff, we now have 6 Aqua Instructors which has resulted in more cover being provided and less classes cancelled which has enhanced our service delivery. We apologise that we have to cancel the Thursday midday aqua class during school holidays, this is to enable us to provide more family sessions during the holiday times. It is not possible to deliver the class in the Main Pool at that time. We still provide 5 Aqua classes during these periods. Thank you once again for your feedback and your continued support of Halo. “I use the Leisure pool gym. I think that the staff are very good. However I think that money is being used in wrong places. Far too much money was spent in putting motifs in the gym. A freshen up of paint would have sufficed. Money would have been better spent in getting the changing room lockers repaired. Also it would be nice if we had the Spa repaired. We are paying more money for less services. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.”

“The Ledbury Centre is convenient and a good size for the local population and the recent freshening up of the gym and new machinery has made it a comfortable and clean space to use. Staff are friendly and approachable. A negative point which is more of a council issue is the parking charges in the adjacent car park which are 0.70p for an hour but £1.90 for two hours - unfair if you attend an hour's class and need five minutes either side for getting changed. The shower flooding the floor in the ladies changing room is a minor negative and available classes have all been booked up quickly this year so have not been able to join any and I also want to use the pool so need to find the best time for a quiet adult swim.”

“Overall the facilities are good, but the ones I usually use are the spa, which is usually dirty, not cleaned, there's an extractor fan hanging off the ceiling in the steam room, sauna doesn't get hot till 8am”

“The staff are friendly but the gym facilities are poor. It’s a very small gym without much equipment and there’s only 1 class per week. The membership price is the same as nearby Bridgend Life Centre where the facilities are far superior. The gym could also do with a refresh and a good clean.”

Hi, Thank you for your feedback. We are continually looking to improve our service and we will take your feedback on board to make changes where needed. In regards to the gym needing a refresh, we had a complete gym refurbishment 3 weeks and had all brand new equipment brought in to replace the old.

“Excellent facilities at the gym and receptionist Rhian really welcoming and helpful with showing us around the gym and how to use the apparatus! She explained everything about what we need to know about becoming a member and cost's/ month being more effective if we plan on using the gym regularly! First class service. We will definitely be returning.”

“I attend Yoga with Emma and Pilates with both Karen and Heather. The classes and Teachers are great. You maybe need to think about running 55 minute classes instead of an hour to ease the congestion in the car park and give the instructors time in between classes so it doesn't always feel so rushed. The classes that always have waitlists need tobe reviewed as to whether another class needs to be added. At the moment some are consistently fully booked by 8am 2 weeks before.”

“I've been coming to the Toning Tables for a few months now. I've caught up with old friends and found some new acquaintances. I cannot use standard gym equipment partly because of M.E./Fibromyalgia plus I don't like exercising that way. I've also returned to swimming where I can exercise while being supported by the water. I do as much as I can depending on how painful my muscles are.”
